If you have the patience to get ti dialed in you are spot on -- it has a huge build area.
In fact the discussion around buying it went something like this:

ME: That is cool, I would love to add a delta they are so fun to watch. Lets get the desktop one.
MY SON: Why? If we are going to get a delta lets get the big one... in fact can we get it taller?
    Me: ?
MY SON: that is sort of the point of having a delta...we can print huge stuff in a single pass.

    So there we are.

    Nah, a huge delta has a hella-cool factor :)
Although believe me I have questioned my sanity a time or two since going down that path.

Okay, I got my new Ramps card in and installed it following the other thread in the mod forum. Everything fired up, all things were looking good until i preheated and attempted to extrude and the motor did the same thing it has been doing. Just loud vibration noises and barely moving again.

My filament broke at some point during all of this so I know it is empty, would that cause a problem with at least testing the motor somehow? I can turn it by hand with no problem. All of this is being done at 200 degrees also so it isn't a temp issue.

Did you tune the stepper drivers on your new ramps card for that extruder?

It could well be a bad stepper. If you have tried one of the other motors on that stepper driver and it works that would be my thought.

Check your RAMPs board cooling - flaky fan, wiring, whatever. I just went through a bunch of this stuff. I had cut a larger hole in the bottom panel to mount a 120mm fan (I have a few laying around). My Robo is mounted on the top rails of a utility cart, so the fan, being too thick to go inside, was sitting on top of a bowl just underneath. If I don't double check, and the fan shifts, all KINDS of random stuff happens to the print - bad first layer, layer shifts, weird under and over extrusion, (add yours here). As soon as I make sure the fan is correctly positioned, first layer porn comes back, and the rest of the problems disappear. Just saying, one simple fault can have a wide variety of symptoms - I'd check this first. By the way - I resized this for 120mm - will publish when I get to print it. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:727160

yes, i tuned them all to the correct areas, and i actually got it to work. I had to get another stepper cord and repin it then it started working again. I even got a print done last night and it seemed to work well.

Until this morning. I put the generic ramps board in and it worked fine yesterday but this morning my bed wouldn't preheat, so i decided to look for voltage on my pins and i immediately spot a melted connection on one of the power supply connections. On the R1+ board I saw there was a 5a and 11a hook ups but my connector flipped these so i opted to just move wires to match the existing set up. Per the other thread I hooked the fans and LEDs up to the 12v supply after cutting and stripping wires. On one side i had input, both LEDs, and one of the fans (not the part fan). The other was just the input and one of the fans. (not the part fan). I will post a picture below from my phone but I wonder if that is actually the 5A side? Maybe i should have just flipped the connector. No where on this ramps card does it say which is which. Now it is melted and fused together (the plastic) so i need to order another ramps. Or I could re-install the robo ramps since it looks like my original problem was just the cord after all. (I think) but i would have to hook up the fans and Led to the supply now since i cut the connectors off. Any idea if this as how i wired it or just a junk ramps card? I mean it was only 10 bucks so.....

You can replace just the connector if you are into soldering, but a new RAMPS is easier.

I went ahead and ordered the whole
Kit this time, wouldn't hurt to have all these spare parts for sure at this point.

@mark tomlinson do you think it was an issue since I had a fan wired in or just a defect? Looking at the damage close up it looks like it may have been an arcing issue and wasn't a solid connection. Just curious as to your thoughts on that?

    I doubt the fan mattered.
That looks like arcing from a bad connector or connection :)

ok, I am going to mark this thread as solved, got the new ramps board in, just to be safe I have all of the accessories on the 5v side just to be safe. Almost seems like a good idea to put a terminal block in here for those connections so they are all as good as can be. I think in the end, this was the result of a bad cord, and while the problem was not apparent at first, it is a learning experience.

Note to all, should your extruder start to click and rapidly shake in area of a print and move into another and continue printing like nothing is wrong until it passes back into the "bad" area, I say check the cord before all else!
