    If it is the reprap discount LCD or a clone of it, then no.
    Your stock firmware will have that already enabled.

    I'm going to need climbing spikes for this learning curve I'm on.

    I'm not intimidated by it though. I learned to build drones from the ground up.

    One of the big difference here is, the printer doesn't fall from the sky and smash into a thousand pieces when I mess something up. :)

    I know I'm sideseat driving, buuut...maybe a month or two printing like crazy BEFORE modifying a good thing....

    I hear ya. The LCD is the only big modification I did. I don't think I could have messed that up it's pretty much plug and play. The other thing I did was installed an 80mm fan blowing air out of the case. That was straight forward. It's powered directly off the power supply.

    Had Mater Control stayed stable I may not have even done the LCD upgrade at this time.

    I moved over to Cura to "try it out" and never went back to MC. The wife likes it though. It's the only reason still have it on my PC.

    I'm still learning Cura and thought I had it ironed out until I ran into this "Endstop" error.

    Simplify3d is another, more expensive, program to look at. Worth it for me

    I'm trying to make sure I understand something correct

    Does the printer keep the Gcode settings if it's not changed the next time a model is plugged in?

    No. For the most part the printer reads the g code either from the slicing program directly to the printer as it prints live in which case if you unplug the USB cord while it's printing or if the laptop goes to sleep or dies out then the printer stops printing), or on the SD card if you put the g code into that and plug it into the printer. I do not believe the printer holds any memory concerning the last print, on its board

    It does not. The arduino has only a limited amount of ram and it buffers some (not a lot) of the GCode while printing.

    The reason I asked is because I wondering if maybe I messed up some Gcode somewhere.

    So I checked the switches with my meter. They are ok.

    I was doing some research at work today (and a little actual work) and I found somebody's suggested start up and end Gcode for Cura 15.04.6

    When I came home I downloaded that previous version of Cura and stuck in their Gcode

    Waaa Laa!

    I'm not getting that endstop hit: Z error but in their start up code was (M117 Printing;) ;) so I'm not sure if that just overwrote it.

    I'm back to printing cubes, but good looking cubes.

    I'm having a little bit of adhesion problems but I think that's in my Z off set.

    looking ok so far this evening. I'll keep you posted

    The Z endstop hit may have simply been left on the LCD from the autoleveling (because it will happen then).

    Yeah, I think I got fooled into having a Z endstop issue. The other night when I was printing a cube from Cura I came back to check on it and it was printing 5mm or so above the cube halfway through the print. I think that was actually a clogged extruder. I had the same thing happen last night when I was printing the Ghost from Star Wars Rebels.

    ...,but now I'm back on track.... :)

    Maybe some over extrusion issues in there, but it's close.

    Still having adhesion problems that I didn't have before. I think my bed is not level.

    Cura has a bed level wizard. Can I go through that with an auto bed leveling machine?

    Generally the bed leveling mechanisms built into slicers conflicts with the auto-bed-leveling. The biggest issue with auto-bed-leveling is the scheme used in adjusting the level. A simplistic explanation not 100% correct but accurate enough to explain. ABL in Marlin 1.0.0 (base for all Robo R1 firmwares) takes the 9 points and creates a single plane that fits all the points as best it can. That means that some points will be above the adjustment plane, some will be below the adjustment plane some will be right on the adjustment plane. Depending on bed warp the deviation might be small or it might be big. Marlin 1.1.0 addressed this by adding an auto-leveling scheme that separates the bed into grids and creates an adjustment plane for each grid section. This results in a more accurate adjustment plane that closely matches the actual bed topography.

    Starting to get used to Cura 15.04.6. I know it's about a year old, but working well.

    There's a much newer version out there, but I think I'm going to leave things as is for now and just print for a while.
