How about to test if I can heat up the bed heater and see if I'm getting that big power draw?

If that 20A supply can really output 20A then it should work. I had a similar issue with my original Robo PSU, I could print with no bed heat but heating the bed would reset the printer (but I heat both bed and hotend simultaneously). That was solved by using a 480W (40A) power supply and then switching to an SSR controlled bed heater.

That power supply is not big enough. You are going to need roughly 150w* just to source the bed.
EDIT: if you mean ONLY heating the bed for a test... maybe. Probably.

*the stock heater is not quite 150w, closer to 135-140 but ..

Forgot the bed was about 140W, I've had a 300W heater on my Robo for so long it was an oversight on my part to not check it first. at 150W the bed will draw about 12.5A of power.

I doubt that PS will be sufficient for that other kit either.

I'll give it a test to see if I can gain any information.

I was looking at this power supply because I figure I'm going to have to replace the one in the kit and possibly the one on the Robo.

Having a hard time finding a 400 or 450 watt one

I bought mine from Banggood a while ago, they never brought the power supply back when they sold out.

If it does turn out to be the PS I'll order two. One for the Robo and one for the kit.

The good news here is since I've only been printing PLA so far. I can still print with out a heated bed. Prints look good. :)

Heated bed is really only needed for a few filaments, for me I use it as a panacea.
Do I really need it? Not often
Do I feel better using it? Yea
    :)

Been printing away all weekend. So much so that I haven't tested it the bed with that other power supply.

What is the significance of the lights on the RAMPS board? Mine is blinking red while it's printing, temps 205/0

The LED's are ..1 each for each MOSFET output circuit (D8, D9, D10) and one for power on (I think)

The Power LED will be on when the power to the board is on and the MOSFET ones will be on when the MOSFET circuit is on.

Well. That didn't last. Now I'm getting shut down with just the hotend.

I have a power supply and thermistor on the way. We'll see. Otherwise I'll need to replace the RAMPS board which I don't really feel like doing.

ROBO suggested that I have a bad power connection to the RAMPS.

Tough call given the symptoms you detailed. The RAMPS is just more connections/wires to label and (re)land otherwise not tremendously complicated.

Yeah, I'm going through a melt down here. The symptoms are not consistent. It's overloading or over heating.

With Robo's suggestion to test the power connection to the RAMPS what's the best way to do that?

I did notice when I was in there before that the green connection boxes (I'm not sure what they're called) do wiggle around.

They seem pretty adamant that this is the issue.
