If I use Matter control with a different slicer engine, would that be the same as downloading a different slicer? Because I noticed under Mattercontrol there are different options for slicer engine:
    Matterslice
    Slic3r
    CuraEngine

You can certainly try one of the other embedded slicers, just know that it is not the same as installing the software standalone. I know MatterControl is just a UI, but I don't remember the entire reason behind it off hand. Someone on here explained it to me a long time ago before I move to S3D.

This still looks under-extruding to me, and the esteps needs to be upped a bit. But what does everyone else think?

I have tried Cura as well, but I could not get it to extrude, I could extrude manually, and when I tried the same file and settings with Mattercontrol it extruded. So I am thinking of not eating for a couple weeks and buying S3D, lol

So looking at the download of repetier host, it says it repetier server, slic3r, slic3r Prusa edition, CuraEngine, skeinforge, python and pypy. Do I need all that?

Cura wouldn't extrude, slic3r printed way wonky (didn't even look like the model), Mattercontrol is the only "slicer" I can get to print halfway decent. I've been using for a year, I guess I will just keep tweaking it. But looking at the others there is way more control over the settings.

No. You have mixed results from various software/slicers (unless there is something you have not said) so no... Changing hardware is not the solution. Are there better hotends? Sure, but you need to get consistent results and the hexagon is a fine extruder. Stick with one program and get used to it.

I have used Mattercontrol for a little over a year. Started good and got better with it over time. I recently had it printing great till I flashed the firmware, now under extrude city. I will post some pics of some of the mods I printed before the flash. I printed a nice spiral vase for mother's day as well. The only difference with those, printed solid didn't have the color Hatchbox PLA I wanted, so I went with Colorfabb from printed solid instead.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

So worst case go back to stock firmware. Sounds like something went wrong there. No need to worry about hardware :)

I went back to the v1 you sent me. I was on v2 before I flashed, went back to the v2 (still under extruding) then v1 ( no change), k have tried 3 other software/slicer programs, I tried printing a model from before I flashed. I have tried everything but hardware.

I don't think I read the entire post here, but did you try a fresh nozzle? or the wizard oil( lol)? I still think an "oiler" is BS..but it totally fixed me up once.. have never used one since though.

My under extrusion problems have always been from a bunged up nozzle..and I'm to lazy to clean them so I just put a new one in.

How does your filament extrude into mid air? if its piddly and curls up onto itself its probably a partically boogered up nozzle. It it spews out like a race horse taking a piss its probably good.

I have used an oiler since it was new, but a new nozzle is the next step I believe. I talked to Brandon at Robo, and they are sending me a new hex for free.

If that solves my problem, I will pick up another hex from www.printedsolid.com

IF your going that route, not that you need it..youve got something else going on I think

.. get the E3DV6 hotend from printed solid and some spare nozzles. I think the E3DV6 nozzles work on the stock robo Hex hotend as well so you could try just swapping a nozzle first.
