I thought it might be fun to try to copy a billiard trick shot rack i have.

I thought i would trace the outline and use inkscape to create ab svg.

Well it sort of worked. But the svg file has too many little variantions and matter control isnt responding well.

I assume i need a better smoother svg.

    How can i do this?

I'd give it a shot in Fusion 360. Trace your part, scan and send to printer. open as a canvas in fusion 360, trace the picture, extrude and bam! 3d model ;) (lots of getting started videos on Fusion as well, oh yea! and its free for hobbyist and students).

I dont know how to do it any other way honestly lol, this has worked flawlessly for me so far.

You can run out of polygons (or actually, memory to process them) if you are not careful. Also, lots of polygons makes for lots of opportunities to have a bum mesh :)
