Just out of curiosity, I just updated firmware under the suggestion from tech support and it is taking forever. Is that normal or has my printer frozen? How long has it taken you guys to update? I assumed with such a small file it would have been few minutes at most.

R2? And are you doing the firmware update or the RoboOS update?

    :)

    RoboOS can take a bit.

Yes, R2. I'm pretty sure it's the firmware. This is part of the email from support

"Just want to make sure you have this firmware update first.

This update may resolve the issue’s you are having"

There was a link in there, but I can't post it yet, lol.

The RoboOS update is using the "Update" button on the touchscreen, right?

I followed the exact steps on the document.
    1. Unzip the file and place the file onto a USB drive.
    2. Place the USB drive into the USB slot on the front of your Robo R2.
    3. On the touchscreen, navigate to Utilities > Options > Firmware Update
    4. Tap File name
    5. Tap Start
    6. Wait......and wait....and wait
However, I think it updated but now I have no controller connectivity.
I am free to roam about the OS but once I tap on something that controls anything (Like Z offset or bed calibration, etc) it freezes.

And now that I've walked off hoping it would somehow unfreeze, I've come back to a connection interrupted and resetting the connection is froze on "Connecting". I don't think it's going to. I've noticed it's also no longer connected to Cura.

Edit: I've reconnected to cura, it disconnected from wifi. Still freezes up and asks that I reset on anything control related.
Edit2: Also no temp readings onscreen from either the print bed or the extruder

have you tried the BRS (big red switch) approach?
Turn everything off and back on again.

Hopefully that helps or you are destined to be back on the horn with Robo Support.

Unfortunately,. I have tried that. I feel I should I have just left well enough alone. I'll give it one last go but I don't have high hopes. Thanks a lot for responding, Mark.

Yes, time to reach out to support again or schedule a tier-2 tech on the website.
There is something bad going on and it could be a hardware problem if the firmware update froze it.

    Good luck.

Just try to reflash the file again, or take the original one.

What file did he give you, and what was your initial problem this could have been a solution for? Kinda missing a lot of info...

Original problem was My Z axis was occasionally cramming my nozzle in to my print bed and leaving nozzle sized ruts in it. That has happened twice. I could get 2 or 3 prints out and then randomly seemed wreck. I have had numerous problems with this printer since day one. Heck, hour 1, really. So far tech support has helped me out the whole way. He didn't give me a file directly, but a link.

Pretty sure I was already using that version but I went ahead and did it anyway just to be sure. I've tried reflashing twice more with the same results. Unfortunately, I didn't copy the original before I flashed so I'm not quite sure where to find it.

Mark, Yes, I just went to github and grabbed the newer release and flashed it with the exact same results, unfortunately. Also a little disappointed that tech support led me to an older version....

Bummer (to both). At this stage you need to work with a 2nd tier support dude/dudette and get the problem sorted (https://robo3d.com/schedule-tech-appointment/).

It is likely a bad board... There may be a way to reset it back to blank but darned if I know what that is...

I'm going to have to agree. I think at this point I have done all I can. Unfortunately the next available appointment is Tuesday. I work graveyard shift so their hours and my hours don't work out too well so I'm gonna have to miss a couple hours of sleep that day to get this taken care of. Thanks for you time!

Hey guys, just tossing out an update. Robo has actually just decided to RMA my printer. I'm still not sure of the root cause of this. They were still looking in to it when my power supply developed a buzzing noise. A fan, I'm sure, but it added to the list of problems and they're gonna have their engineers go through it.
