Geofs C2

Here is a thread of my unboxing and first print(s) off the Robo C2. I had said before how I thought the machine was overpriced considering size and lack of heatbed....I stand here to eat my words . Suprisingly sturdy and smooth running machine.

Same issue as the R2 (at least that I saw) with Jerk and Accel being to high. I put on (without trying the original) the new fan shroud available from Robo3Ds thingiverse and will be putting some hours on the machine.

I'm impressed by the packaging and general first impression. Even more so than with the R2. Any questions ask away.

 

It makes a really good higher resolution printer. The lack of a heated bed is even OK given the wide range of available materials out there.

 

Tuning in a S3D Profile, here is my 3rd print on the machine. A little temp and extrusion to tweak but very impressed.


Edit: This was .2 layer I dont think I mentioned that.

 

I think the C2 with a 0.30 or 0.25 mm nozzle would be a great little detail printer.

 

See I was thinking it would be great to stick the .15 nozzle on it lol. Being as small as it is the prints would be long but man would they look great. I use to run it on a spare R1+ I had, slick prints.

 

Why not try it then. There are a lot of models that could use the detail you can get from such small nozzles.

 

Gotta get motivated to do it lol. I'm often...not so motivated . Will eventuall get to it

Thanks! Pretty happy with machine so far and yes very small compared to the R2 I picked up as an example of "cheap easy to use 3D Printers" for local schools in my area as they always ask and when I let them borrow the R2 and R1 it was "to much machine" or "to complicated" the C2 is quite easy (much similar to the R2 so far but without the door and heatbed everything just is ...easier)

and yes easily can handle the .25, .15 is a bit of a ....its difficult to get dialed in lol. Prone to ghost jams and the such but will be fun to try. Right now I'm amazed at how rigid the C2 is. Being the R2 beefy but scaled down to the C2 makes it quite a little tank. Have no worries throwing it in the car for demonstrations and the such. After the built in spool holder on the R2 I do feel a bit "cheaped out" by the "set in place" spool holder on the rear lol. Still a decent machine so far. Has printed each item I've thrown at it and decently well too.

 

Probably to really "define" pro vs starter printer. If the C2 had a heatbed for the same money it sells for now it would for sure be a winner. That said...a few bucks and some wiring and you can have one

 

I agree (and I likely wont be adding one either). I do like the fact that I unboxed both the R2 and C2 and both printed out of the box. Granted I've had a ton of parts fail on the R2, but all were handled quickly by Robo and my unit was not brand new The C2 is also not brand new....but much less print time than the R2. Like...it looked brand new all over
