PEI sheets precut with 3M adhesive are available @Printed Solid

    https://printedsolid.com/products/pei-sheet?variant=1011061391372

at 30 bucks a sheet with the adhesive already applied and cut to size I think its just darn perfect! Do not forget to ensure your nozzle probes cold or you will burn a spot in your new PEI!

Pictures installed. A little extra to trim off which is great !

Robo staff advised PEI and I am considering trying it. I have also seen other products that you clamp onto the table.

How long does a sheet of this usually last?

It seems like trying to remove it from the bed for replacement would be a nightmare.

PEI and buildtak Spatula- glue stick for materials that are to aggressive when printing on PEI and you will be suprised how long they last. My MK2 has had 1 sheet replaced in the 5k+ hours its got on it. Now granted- you will tear some while learning PEI so dont get discouraged...but it gouges and scratches very easy....Buildtak Spatula :D

Does this cover the whole bed or just print area? Trying to decide between this or one half the price that would end up being smaller.

Original post edited with pictures and simplify 3D start up script for MESH firmware and STOCK firmware. Be sure to let the nozzle cool all the way down after a print or it will probe at the temperature its at. I have only tested Mesh firmware and S3D. If your setup varies be sure to watch as it autolevels and ensure it is COLD. Do not let the nozzle hit the bed hot.

Thats pretty cool, would have saved my last glass bed from being chunked!

Don't really need one now, happy with my sanded lexan.

@Geof you're weird the shiny side should be down. Reminds me of the guy that walks into a bar and orders a drink, a few minutes later he goes outside and yells 'Green side up'. then comes back in for another drink ...

Matt told me he prefers the shiny side down also, like a normal person would, but his partner insisted that the shiny side be up. That is why Printed Solid sells them that way.:p:D

It looks good. Are the spots that look like they have air bubbles under them still flat or is this part of why you use the mesh leveling? When I upgraded to 1.1.7 I just used the regular UBL.

Also, is there a reason for no Z offset in the S3D script? (Do you just have it set in the firmware?)

its my laziness when "squishing" the PEI sheet down :D the sheet is flat and down(no bubbles), I use mesh leveling because this is maybe the 4th bed with chips in it I've had (using PEI now to use up those old beds vs buying new or using float glass)

stock robo firmware script would be this:

    G28 ; home all axes

    G1 Z5 F5000 ; lift Z by 5mm

M565 Z-.90; set the offset for autolevel to your numbers

    G29; Autolevel Dance

    M140 S[bed0_temperature]

    M190 S[bed0_temperature]

    M104 S[extruder0_temperature]

    M109 S[extruder0_temperature]

But MESH Firmware script is this:

    G28 ; home all axes

    G1 Z5 F5000 ; lift Z by 5mm

    G29 S4 Z-0.000; offset for mesh positive is further from bedM140 S[bed0_temperature]

    M190 S[bed0_temperature]

    M104 S[extruder0_temperature]

    M109 S[extruder0_temperature]

On the mesh firmware the G29 line is the offset (this R1+ machine I have done where I dont need any adjustment) so no M565 but instead a G29 S4 Z-X.XX ; the X.XX would be your "Z" offset if needed.

Are you printing hot (bed) with the PEI? I'm guessing since this covers the whole bed you now have a lot more print volume that is usable.
