Geof's E3

My Robo E3 has arrived from Robo. Here are some unboxing photos:

Robo E3 in its packaged box:


Spare hotend and build plate (flexibleish) that comes with every E3


Filament, Power Cord, Tool kit (couple allens, phillips screwdriver and grease), getting started guide and the coupons for My Stem Kits starter kit and 2 hours virtual training with Robo.


Robo E3 out of the box, bubble wrapped nicely and covered with this plastic wrap to prevent scratches I assume


PC viewing windows on the top and side of the machine


Filament Side with panel off and filament loaded (500g spools are all that fit stock)


The feeder: You CANNOT operate by hand as your fingers (or at least mine) cant get to the level and move it (can with a flat head )

 

Robo E3 powered on with a 500G included spool for scale (its small)


Zoomed in on first layer after Z "calibration" (there is a menu that sets the z on the bed, you raise until a piece of paper fits and it stores the offset for you)


First print was a small cube (the only included gcode on the machine, wish there were more) took 9 minutes

excellent unboxing and test pics!

 

Will be a benchy and deprime and the such tonight I'd imagine Yesterday was unboxing and "getting printing" which took all of ten minutes then loading prints from "robo print" slicer over the net to the printer distracted me lol. There is a 400% marvin waiting for pics when I get home

[OK, I get why trying to have an exclusive bundle for STEM would seem attractive, but the support you are now going to be obligated to deliver...]

 

ya know for a click and go slicer, Flash Print (Robo print) is great. I actually use flash print with my Moai for cross lattice supports so somewhat familiar with it (only using it for supports that way though). If you want to tweak things flash print (robo print) makes life difficult.

Yep I imagine it will be quite a bit. They release this model on the 30th (all orders go out so I'm told) so will be interesting to see what shakes out as far as using it from "step one". I'd like to say I did follow the guide...but honestly I just finger poked the touch screen until I got it doing what I needed then realized I should have followed the actual paperwork (but I've set up so many first prints its just natural at this point to poke until it prints vs reading---cuz words are hard)

 

Is it my imagination, or is the printer only doing 1/2 of a skirt before printing a model?

 

Yea it does a very small spittle to prime then prints

 

Must be the replacement for the priming noodle printed on the C2 and R2 printers.

Next question:

Is the gantry / print bed arrangement similar to the geometry of the R1?

 

Yea very similar except the z motor is a single motor and a belt that drives both z rods. Other than that it’s just a normal Cartesian with an included enclosure
