The Nova basically looks like a fancier E3D Volcano, if it uses the same 6mm threading and is the same length that could be an option for other sized nozzles. No real specs on their site and it is rather expensive re: E3D.

Not the same size at all. Thinner and shorter.

I swapped out the hexagon hot end on the R2 with a round E3D one and it's worked fine. I did the same for the R1+, although it required removing material from one component and printing out a thicker version of the other. So far it's worked very well.

What did you do for the inset that the hex has on the E3D?

    Look at step 14: https://e3d-online.dozuki.com/Guide/V6+Assembly/6

    What exactly are you missing?

The E3D is a drop-in for the R1 series, for the R2/C2 it is not, quite. Their carriage is going to need a bit of modification (certainly the C2 will not accept the E3D).

That isn't the beveled funnel that the Hex has. Is the funnel not necessary to guide the filament?

No, it is not. Given a direct extruder (a geared one would need it even less) and the distance involved, the feed is not crucial. If it were an ACTUAL bowden with a length feed tube* then it would matter.

*I have a delta that stands 6 foot tall and has a 36" x 12" build area. That has issues due to the length of the bowden tube. I have alternated between geared and direct extruders on it. Currently back to running direct with some of the extra slick teflon tubing rather than generic 2mm/4mm PTFE.

I have https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3180056. You only have to change the connectors. Print out my shroud to fit the E3d, then load my hex file. The hex file corrects the temp curve to use the 3950 thermistor, it shortens the z axis to accommodate the E3D height. Then just put in the E3D.
