Please help before I throw this thing out the window. It was printing beautiful and then had a fail overnight and since then has been abysmal.

As you can see in the pictures below... it seems to skip
Or under extrude every few lines. This leads to ugly non structurally sound prints.

    So far I’ve:
    -cleaned and seasoned the nozzle
    -calibrated the estepper
-got a new heat sink and heatbreak

at this point I’m not sure what else to do.. I’m currently using PLA at like 205-215

Yes, starts the second you turn the printer on. I have a E3D

Is the e3d a new add or has it been printing ? What was the failure that started all the issues ?

Replace the nozzle for a start (just the nozzle, a wear item, not the hotend).
Then season the new nozzle and see if it improves.

You do still have some first layer inconsistencies looking at the photos, but that is not related to the clogs/extrusion issues.

The e3d has been on for a while. I had a few settings that i saw on Maker Muse YouTube for faster larger prints. Tried a large print that night and woke big layer shift and the printer printing in the air beside it. After I cleaned it all up, it hasn’t been the same since, even with me going back to my old settings that’s worried previously.

I have new nozzles coming off amazon Sunday so I hope that it.
Any idea what the first layer inconsistencies/gaps would be from?

Microclogs would be my first guess for all of the places where filament stops extruding.
Usually seasoning the nozzle will sort that, but if the nozzle is worn enough you may be better off just replacing it.

Out of curiosity can you see a bend in the heatbreak ? I have a failure overnight that the part warped up and as the machine moved in x it crashed and bent the heatbreak

It’s possible, but i just put a new heat sink in after the overnight issue because I figured maybe it was clogged.

So i cranked it up to 260, put the new nozzle in, seasoned it. Did a PID calibration, e step calibration... it Extruded fine. I go to print a calibration box and a bench and it like barely sputtered out filament and the filament keeps jamming before entering the heat sink right after the hobble bolt.

260 for PLA is way too hot and you will likely cause a failure because of heat creep (where the heat break is not able to keep the filament from melting before it gets to the nozzle). While adjusting things make sure that the heat sink that cools the hotend cold section IS still working 100%.

Heat is a case where more is not better than "just enough" :) Too much is a real issue.

No no, i print pla around 205-215... the 260 was just for switching the nozzle while the heater block is expanded lol i never print anything over 235 and that was Petg. This all happened with play at 215

You've got a worn or damaged tooth on your hobbed bolt. As that tooth arrives at the filament, it can't grip, so the filament stops moving; as the bolt moves a good tooth into position it grabs and starts feeding filament again. That's why the pattern of skipped sections is so regular.

Solution: replace the hobbed bolt. I use and can highly recommend the E3D Hobb-Goblin. It's a bit spendy ($20 or so) but it is CNC machined to perfection.

I’ve cleaned the groves of the hobble bolt with a wire brush but at this point I’ll try anything so I’ll order that too. Thanks

If you can't get one from PartsBuilt.com they can be had from eBay, normally not expensive.

So finally got it to stop jamming again and decided to print a benchy. Still having the same line skip every like 5 steps issues. I checked the hobb bolt and it’s clean. CE76FAA1-038F-458B-A47D-B07B68D48D37.jpeg
