Thanks! The problems I was having were all my fault. I suck at crimping those little tiny female crimp pins. For every 1 successful crimp, I throw 10 away.

@donhuevo. How'd you connect the lead screw to the stepper? Are you going to post a guide? I'm really liking all the upgrades you're doing.

how did you figure out the lead nut > x-carriage?

Trial and error. The POM nut has 3 small holes in an equilateral triangle around the flange. I just printed an adapter that had 3 pins on one side and the right size hex on the other. Actually, it was a two part and glue situation because I didn't want to print with support.

And I had to flip the POM nut over on the shaft. I did lose some build height, but as soon as I figure out how to top mount the motor to the deck instead of mounting it underneath, I'll get about 60mm or so of extra height.

The best solution is often the simplest, nice idea and execution. In fact, as long as the nut isn't a loose fit, three shear pins like this is great will go a long way to reduce slop.

Do those new threaded rods make any awful noise like the stock ones did. My stockers make the most awful noise when the x-carriage is lowering, (yes they are lubricated, still sounds meh)

They aren't nearly as noisy. I can do a video of it homing if you like. As for the slop, I'd put it equal to the slop in the stock setup. I measured the stock nut for my design.

    yoda back.jpg yoda front.JPG

.1mm Yoda printed at 150%. Some issues visible but not bad overall. Weirdness on top of his head.

Here's a candid of .1 Yoda meeting .2 naked lady...

He thinks to himself, "Talk to her I must. 'Hey Baby' I must say."

Yeah, I saw that link you posted. Very pretty but they will require couplers. I think Paul Yeh posted some solid couplers he had made.

    very quiet.

Not that noise was really that big a problem and my wife loves 3d printing, but everytime the z axis 'homes' in this house, she looks at me like 'whats wrong with it?'...

Is there a delrin nut out there for the stock rods? That could be something worth looking into...

Oh gotcha, just needs to be 5/16-18" for stock rods and no greater than 13mm (like half inch) between the flats.

That link didn't really work. I don't think McMaster sells plastic coupling nuts
