Mid print filament change.

    Finally tried it out. the print was funky because i over oiled the filament. but the idea worked well.

    I think i just used way to much oil. how do you keep the oil from leaking out the bottom of the oilier

    Sponges in the oiler. I put just enough oil in there to soak into the sponges--but not saturate them.
    When the filament goes between them it comes out the other side with a light sheen of oil on it before it goes into the top of the extruder.

    I didnt have any canola on hand i used veggie oil and i got bad layers as you can see. idk if thats not using canola or just too much in general. also, does it look my belt is lose? it feels pretty well tensioned. a guy on another forum was complaining about. .

    Yes, you are getting some overshoot (it appears) which is generally loose belts.
    To confirm it is overshoot you would look on both sides of the model and on the one side where it is sticking over, the opposite side will be recessed in slightly. That is overshoot and usually loose belts are the culprit.

    If the same layer is sticking over on both sides of the given axis travel that is more like over extrusion that overshoot of a belt.

    If one set of sides on layers looks like this:

    That is more likely overshoot.

    If both sides look like this

    ( )
    ( )
    ( )
    ( )

    Over extrusion.

    Hard to do with ASCII art, but you get the idea :)


    P.S. Veggie oil is fine I used it for a week or so before finally getting down to buy the canola

    while ive got you, my fan isnt engaging during prints. im running a test a 100 percent fan speed and its not starting up. ive totally for got what part of the board controls this can you post the wiring schematic? so i can find the lose connection.

    i just skipped that step, i licked the contacts going to the fan and there is for sure current a-flowing. the fans just no turning. lol

    Bad fan I can believe.
    Just swap another one on there. They are fairly common 12v fans. You might find one at radio shack (or you can certainly order one online).
    Not sure what other options you might have (Frys would likely have one).

    The only one really odd sized is the 25mm one on the extruders. The part fan is 40mm (If memory serves) and I used an 80mm for cooling the ramps board--not sure what Robo actually ended up sticking under there.

    I Have a couple 50mm fans on hand do you know of a replacement fan trow that can acomidate a 50. I know a 40 is what is in there right now.
