    My latest prints in PLA:

    T4 Mini Copter 250 size - parts as motors, brushless controllers ordered at Hobbyking and on the way - this will be my fun copter for the winter season and in house/hall flights...:

    Does it run in 4 motors or one?
    I flew ducted and delta wing and I am wondering if I could use my gear in the quad copters or is it a different beast?

    Got a really good brushless and 4 channel radio and I figure I'd give the copters a try. Any tips?

    There are specific motor controllers (ESC) for the quads (if that helps answer your question).
    That is what we used in ours.

    Peter,

    Quad: 4 Motors, Hexa Copter 6 Motors, and so on. A 4 channel radio is just the minimum to fly and controll a copter (throttle, yaw, nick and roll = 4 channels) - but then a 6-better more channel programmable radio required to programm the different flight modes and to switch additional functions as the cargo hook of my T4 Mini Quad Copter. For beginners I suggest to buy a mini Hubsan Copter to learn flying, to read more at e.g. rcgroups.com, to go the next steps step by step...

    To built an individual Quadcopter is NOT plug and play:) The same as starting with 3D printing for me a couple of months ago.

    Granted the radios have changed. We use a Futaba-7 and a Fuitaba-8U simply because that we what we already had (from back in the robot days).
    The simulator is a win regardless.

    P.S. and finding a correct transmitter module for the Futaba radios that worked with the 2.4ghz stuff was... a challenge (and pricey). However sooooo much better than the old days of frequency management with channel clips and the like.

    Futaba is 1A quality! To contoll my big Black Widow Quadcopter beast, fully equipped with Gopro/Gimbal, 2nd Sony FPV Cam, R/C Video Switch, Horn, Telemetrie, etc., etc. I use a 12 channel Graupner Hott MX20 Radio - my "old/beginner" Dx6i I use still for the Simulator.

    You know, I could totally find a use for 12 channels too....:D

    I have learned the hard way that getting a good controller module (the ESC equivalent) is really key.
    We used a Naza (the v2 w/GPS) and it is pre-programmed to a certain extent (which takes a bit of getting used to).
    There are better ones out there I am sure.

    Speaking of which I GOTTA get a camera installed ... That is too cool.

    Still printing this parts in 0,3mm with the E3D V6 and a 0,4mm nozzle - but for this kind of parts I will try/use in the future a bigger nozzle for faster printing speed as high resolution is not really necessary...

    Yes it is... Will use this copter then for short distance speed FPV flights and not worring about a possible crash... Have you watched the trailer? Looks like a lot of fun :)

    I can't watch too much drone stuff or else there will be multiple few hundred dollar charges on the credit card and a very angry wife.
