NinjaFlex filament

    Sounds like you're doing the right things. I like the @mark tomlinson method of running the support tube all the way up past the hobbed bolt and just cutting an opening for the hobbed bolt. The more support the better for flexibles.
    Also, FYI, Taulman released a filament called PCTPE that is very flexible but easy to feed. Not nearly as flexible as ninja mind you, but still good for many applications. Probably not what you wanted to hear right after investing in a spool of ninja...

    Hey NxtMonster, I too have tried all the items on your list and have only experienced modest results. The next I plan to take is to get a larger diameter extruder tip. I'm at .4 and want to try .5 and .6.

    I wonder if you put the Nijaflex in the freezer and cooled it if it would be stiffer and feed easier. I might try this and post if it does.

    What was the best way to install the tube? Did you take the top off and pull the carriage out? Did you have to drill, if so how far down.

    Congratulations by the way, I still have not had the time to mess with mine, the ninjaflex is just setting their taunting me on the work bench.

    I believe they remove the hobbed bolt to put in the tube. You shouldn't need to drill with a brass tube, only if you use a 4mm ptfe tube

    Putting things in the freezer will cause condensation.

    I used an ink tube from a pen that has an inner diameter that allows the filament to pass freely through. I put it down into the feed hole and marked the spot where the hobbled bolt was on it. From there I just dremeled out an opening on the pen tube for the hobbled bolt. A drop of hot glue keeps the tube from pulling up on retraction.

    It's printing right now so I can't take a picture of the whole thing. But here's the top part sticking out of the feed mechanism:

    That is pretty much exactly what I did to get it working as well. Only difference is I had some old 1/8" or slightly smaller plastic tubing hanging around in the garage...(some of those bins really are larger on the inside--I swear). Notched a hole in it, shoved it in a NijaFlexed away.

    Well it doesn't jam on my anymore. And my first layer is going down like a champion. But now its doing this weird thing where after a few bottom layers it just stops sticking and will blob around on the surface. The filament does not jam, but rather it doesn't adhere to the previous layer. Any suggestions?

    With any filament, that's a pretty good sign that you're running some combination of too cold and too fast.

    So 235C and 20mm/s would be either too cold or too fast for the ninjaflex?

    I wouldn't think so, but that's typically the cause of that type of extrusion. I guess you cold also have a blockage or the ninjaflex could be buckling on you.

    I'll try turning it up a few degrees and clearing any blockage by running some other filament through the extruder.
