Mike, if I leave the speeds above as 0 for the Infill, outer shell, inter shell, do they use the general speed and where do you set the general speed.
Also can you set the speed and extrusion rate as it is printing, like you can do in MatterControl.

You set the print speed with the Print speed option. As the Alt text says when you hover over those fields, if you leave it at 0 it will use the default print speed.

Flow rate is set with the flow (%) option

No. You shouldn't be doing that anyways

Thanks Mike for the settings. This was the first time I tried to print directly from Cura. I only had to change the Z-offset to .25 and a piece that would have taken 2o hours in Simplify3D took just over 11. And that was with neglecting to change it to print with no infill.

Cura completely failed today. I made a very nice print over night last night and today I restarted my computer and when I went to start up Cura it has forgotten all my settings and its asking me to add a printer.

I am more then a little upset about this. I was really like Cura. Maybe its an excuse to give simplify another shot.

Did you close it down or did it crash?

If it crashes it'll lose it's config. You need to have a clean close so it saves settings

Yes it must have crashed. looking to set up simplify right now. Losing settings in a single crash means its not reliable in my eyes. I might go back if I still don't like simplify. I'm still learning so who knows.

OK My bad it didn't lose every setting but there was a prob. Simplify still looks too complicated to my eyes.

I think I have Cura back to good settings again.

Simplify is about as advanced as it gets. There's a ton of options but it's mostly configured already.

Cura cuts down everything you don't need and just shows you what's important. Gotta dig a little more with it but I like how simple it is.

Yea, there are a lot of buttons and knobs that you only need to tweak when something isn't working

Step 5 M565 defines the Z offset. He's talking about support distance.

Still figure it out of the support distance. Actually I really like the look of the rendering models from Cura.
Now I'm back and forth printing between Cura and S3D. Also the latest S3D has fixed the gaps.
