Partially Solved Shifting Layers in Y axis

The heater is a square at 8.2" either direction. Won't matter x or y if it's larger than that

It's still a loose x belt or possibly loose set screw on the pulley

This is the last time I'm gonna say this

 

my extruder seems quit difficult to move in the x. very rough back and forth

 

ok so the bearing on the right spins freely, but when moving the belt the bearing the belt spins on move sometimes and sometimes not. Could this be causing a slip?

 

I just dont understand why the dog tag would print fine but not this. Maybe because it had to travel further on the x.

 

could be a spun bearing on the x carriage. Clip off the tensioning zip tie to loosen the belt and slide the carriage back and forth checking for any spots where it sticks

Machine oil or sewing machine oil can help a bad bearing if this is the case

 

Ok. I went to the store and got some graphite lube. Hoping that should work ok. and some new zip ties. unclipped it. Doesnt seem to "stick" anywhere although I wouldn't say it travels freely. Takes pressure to move it. I'm assuming that is normal. Gonna re zip her.

 

All these issues with belts and stuff makes me wonder if you could design a 3d printer that ran off hydraulics instead of belts. I realize this would be much more expensive and probably a bit bulkier, but I wonder if it would relieve alot of the problems that belts are prone to such as stretching and slipping and such.

 

think i got her too tight. Just had a bind going to the right where it completely stopped.

 

whats a spun bearing also. cuz even with the belt off it does seem to stick a little on the right side.

 

Hey there, still shifting to the left on x. I think I'm gonna give it a rest for awhile or this thing might end up with a 9mm sized hole in it. I'm just so frustrated at this point.

 

Spun bearing is a bit of a generic term for a bad bearing. It means one of the inners balls is out of position and causing it to bind up.

Might be time to schedule a 1 on 1 with robo tech support.

 

This is exactly the same problem I have been having.

Robo support has responded only with "Lube the rods", been about 3 days without any other response.

In the picture above your X belt is closer to the inside then mine.

Is there a normal location that should be?

 

doesn't really matter on the idler. If the belt is tight it's probably a bad bearing.

If you can't slide the X axis back and forth smoothly after lubricating the rods it's probably a bad bearing. If it is remove the zip ties that hold or tension the X belt so there's no forces on the carriage, the slide it back and forth seeing if there's any sticking. If it is it's probably the linear bearings. You'll need a replacement from robo

Yeah that's not right at all. Submit a replacement part request for a new X Carriage.

You can replace them yourself with some LM8UU's off amazon or the like. It's pretty easy and quick to do if you don't want to wait for robo.

 

Thats similar to what mine is like but a little less extreme than that.
