    Robert, I just modified the OpenSCAD files to increase the resolution of all curved surfaces and make it 7 hex cutouts rather than 5. I also extended the base of the small gear all the way down to the bottom, makes it easier to print without supports and I think it looks better too.

    The really cool thing was that I printed it at 0.2 mm layer height and only 2 perimeters and 15% Hilbert Curve infill. It came out plenty strong and I have no concerns with the part breaking. On the small gear if your printer isn't printing precise parts you may need to resize the center hole it is a tight fit. It is basically a remix of Herringbone Gears for Robo3D R1, with the above mentioned code changes and then re-rendered & exported as .stl files.

    This project was in fact the raison d'etre for my printer. It is a bespoke base for my collection or miniature orchids and houses all the associated electronics.

    It is ~40cm in diameter. The walls are printed with Bamboofill and can be removed to reveal a Colorfabb XT skeleton allowing me to work on the electrics in situ. It consists of 40 individual parts none of which are glued together, they instead use pegs, dovetail joints and interlocking pins to clip together.

    It's taken me around 9 months of incremental design and development, not to mention learning how to print! There are quite a lot of features, my favourite of which are the magnetically actuated internal locking pins - the walls can only be unlocked by placing magnets in certain places on the outside. Makes me feel just a little bit like a secret agent :)

    Helmet_shoulder_guard.jpg

    Just finished painting my set of shoulder guards and my helmet for the Renaissance fair. It's the first big project I've really completed with my Robo printer and I wanted to share. Anyone have any tips for good ways to design multi-part prints so that they fit together well? On the helmet I made due with notches and liberal amounts of super-glue.

    -1-4.jpg -2-2.jpg My son's Magic the Gathering card storage box. He designed it as part of a school project. We have printed about 6 of them for him and his friends. One of the challenges was to get the tolerances correct on everything. It all prints well including the hinges, some steel wire is pushed in for the hinges. Small magnets hold the doors closed.

    Mike, Sonny - My son has asked I not share them. He is considering making and selling them. I admire the entrepreneurial spirit and need to respect his decision.
