I'm about to change my stock Robo to a bowden setup and was wondering what you guys thing the best cold end is? EZStruder, Bulldog XL, keep the Greg Wade?

Just wondering what people feel is best.

Gregs wade works great. I'm using it and have been print at 130mm/s with no issues.

Nothing wrong with the greg's wade IMO. I prefer it to a lot of cold ends. I wasn't a fan of the EZStruder but other people have a lot of success with it so it was probably just the way I installed it.

The bondtech v2 is king right now, but it costs an arm and a leg

I tried bumping my stock Wade to 100mm/s and it sounded like it was dying during prints. Prints did look fine though. Does yours make strange noises during high speed prints?

Mike on your Bowden set up did your just print your own extruders or did you buy one like that v2 you mentioned?

What Hobbled bolt are you guys using with the Greg Wade? I have tried 3 different ones and had mixed results.

Nope. Although I am running bowden with it. It's not direct drive. Also have herringbone gears on mine. Cuts down on nose as well.

I left the stock hobbed bolt. You must have something else going on. I'm using E3D V6.

@jbigler1986 What version Robo do you have. Mine is from 05/2014. The stock bolt was no good.

Every now and then a bad one gets through occasionally.

We recently had someone with a new printer and a hobb-less bolt.
A non-hobbed sort of abortion. Clearly an oopsie, but there ya go.
    That picture was a head-shaker :)

They got over the bad run of bolts and generally speaking the new printers have hobbed bolts pretty much like the ones we were getting from eBay. They work well.

Mike Kelly, I'm sold on getting a Bondtech V2. How was the install on the Robo? Would it be a direct bolt on in place of the Greg's Wade, or would it be a small project to get it installed with a custom bracket, etc. Secondly, do you still recommend the Bondtech V2 after owning it for a while? Its pricey indeed, so just trying to do some due diligence before making the investment.

Right now there isn't a bolt on swap for a greg's wade. I've been meaning to suggest that to martin bondeus.

I've been extremely happy with them. The amount of grip they have on the filament is fantastic and there's very minimal deformation of the filament
