    Hi everybody,

I own a Robo for about 1 year now and I am still happy with it. But I always wondered how a delta may perform compared to standard printer with the three axis. Since I had some spare parts and unused components like an Arduino, a LCD controller, some motors and some small parts, I decided to built a small delta printer. I compared some of the available designs like the Cherry Pi, Thingystock, Kossel Mini and the Rostock Mini Pro, all of them are great, but finally I decided to go with the Rostock Mini Pro due to it's minimalistic design.

Some weeks ago I started ordering the components and printing the parts on my Robo in parallel. During the built up phase, I found some points which I wanted to add over the original design like:
    - Add the LCD controller for standalone prints
    - Use a non geared extruder since I had a standard Nema17
    - Add a heated bed (external power required)
    - Include the power supply in the base + cover plate

Here is the result of my work:

    Still some updates to do:
    - Switch to magnetic joints for better precision
    - Control hotend fan to activate over 50°C (like at my Robo, I love this feature)
    - Add better cooling fan
    - Cover at the Ramps board

But even now, print quality and speed is great, I love my small delta printer as well as my Robo :)

    Have a nice weekend!

Thank you. Just build one, I am sure you have also a lot of the required parts just like I did.

That is nice. So it's printing fine without a geared stepper?

Yeah it works quite nice even at higher speed.

Interesting. What speeds are you printing at?

I print at 60mm/s and went up to 150% without skipping a step.

I had nothing but trouble trying to use a non geared stepper with bowden. Kept stalling.

I use a stepper with 59Ncm, a standard Nema17 has something around 45Ncm. This allows the higher speed.
