All the attached file does is run around the bed 100 times. It doesn't print anything. It doesn't hurt the printer. If you have an LCD, adjust the feedrate faster and faster to see just how fast the Robo can move when not printing. At some point it will vibrate and that is how you know you have reached the maximum speed. At the default speed it takes about 12-15 minutes to complete.

    It homes all Axes
It performs an Auto Bed Level
It moves in a rectangle for the first 25 passes
It moves in an X pattern for the following 25 passes
It moves in a rectangular pattern for the next 25 passes
It moves in an X pattern for the final 25 passes

It will display a very short message on the LCD, for those equipped, that specifies the loop number. It is ideal to break in new bearings or if you want to lube the rails and just don't know how to get it spread all over.

I thought about making it fancier by moving in opposite directions for each 25 passes and adding the G2 Arc commands, but I am having a heck of a time understanding what G2 actually does, since arcs are generally used in CNC Routers and no current 3D print slicer implements that feature.

Sweet. We should start a test code thread.

There are a number of nice ones out there that do useful things like this. I have been a fan of this one specifically for testing the RAMPS: http://reprap.org/wiki/File:RAMPS1.4_TestCode.pde

I have some 1-layer STLs for level checking and the like.

Sometimes you just want a tool for testing stuff :)

What it can be used for is already mentioned in the original post.

i guess I was hoping for more than lubing my rails for 15 minutes.

It is a nice check/test for the printer.

Have every print come out perfect and not have to adjust the settings every time I print, and then make me dinner.
