I have the R1 and the lead screws already.. But I saw a video the other day of a R1 Plus and it looked like it had aluminum mounts between the carriage and the extruder?

One thing I notice with mine is with the extruder bolted to the carriage in just two places it gets a lot of side to side tilt/flex during bed leveling. Is there something different on the Plus that solved this?

As far as I'm aware the plate is just redesigned to have the "swing out" tab. I believe mine is black plastic not aluminum. Not positive on that as never really paid much attention. I can upload some pictures of my r1+ carriage if you'd like to compare.

What is the swing out tab?

It could have been plastic but it looked like aluminum to me in the video I saw ( it was a different color I thought )..( can't find it now )

It's a tab that holds the hotend to the carriage. You take lose the front screw and can pivot the tab as a "quick release " for the hotend.

I do have an E3DV6.. I'll print this out now on my replicator 2, while the printer is apart.

I actually think I saw that in a post or something before but didn't know where it goes or how it works.( and still don't just from the thinigervse file )

I printed one out. on my other printer since the robo is waiting on parts.

    100% PETG

I assume it slides in like this?

After that I'm not real sure how this is supposed to go on.

also, waldo, I tried your tip of lowering my ext multiplier by 0.01, while it did help a bit for the nozzle boogers it seems like it didn't fully fill stuff to the edges.
A little hard to tell in the pictures but trust me, its got some gaps between the fill and the outer perimieter.

EDIT: Oops somehow missed Geoff's post. I see how it goes on now I think

    Increase overlap
Infill >>General >>Outline Overlap also Infill Extrusion Width
    sometimes this works
Advanced >>Thin Wall Behavior >> Allow gap fill when necessary

Stuff like this is easier to fix in Slic3r than in S3D.

Yeah I really need to upload the design for that. That one on thingiverse doesn't take into account the rotation of the plate when putting on the extruder. Not sure how it even installs without taking the whole extruder apart.

Worked fine for me when I upgraded to the E3D. Both the hotend notch and the clearance for the 'locking' screw (the one it doesn't pivot on) are curved and/or angled towards the pivot screw side, I think it was basically the same as the piece it replaced which also worked fine for me.

I was pondering that myself. What does it hold the hotend against?

That part I get. It sits under the gregs wade and against the plate so you use the M4 screws and sandwich it together

Thanks. I was thinking that it would hold against something else as well.
