Like many other 3D printing 'endeavors' making it profitable is hard.

In the meanwhile, you can printout the Sharpie colorizer thingy made by one of our distinguished members :)

    I stick with paint, though...:)

Really it was a poorly formulated idea that would never turn into something useful

Saw this similar one that was crowd funded and is shipping now. It prints with up to 4 colors. Waiting to see some user reviews...

CORRECTION: This is being sold as a pre-order for an estimated June 2016 ship date.

Helmut, that thing costs as much as another Robo. So unless you really need colors and not have the time or skills to paint it yourself, I am with Mike and do not see the marketability of the product. Maybe at a $299 price point?

Oh I agree with you and Mike. At $800 it is not for me either. It is an interesting tool for multi color printing with one extruder, if it works reliably. Rather spend the money on a 3D Scanner. Which I just did...a Matter and Form 3D Scanner. Also am part of their crowd funding campaign for a 3D scanner adapter for cell phones.

Nice, tell me about the cell phone campaign, I have the Autodesk freebie and have not really the patience to scan something ;)

$80? That's more like it. Hopefully it is legit as they made their goals.

I think so. Matter and Form seems like a good company. They have been giving updates on the Bevel development on a regular basis with videos showing the progress. Their current desktop 3D laser Scanner get's pretty good reviews. I will post a review in these forums when I get it and try it out.

How much was the scanner you already got? And how do you like it? I think I saw one at Fry's when I bought my printer for $599?

Amazon has it for around $500 for a new one. Still a bit more than I want to pay. So I bought a "New" used one on eBay for $370.
Will be here in a few days...I hope. ;-)

It is as good as any other consumer level scanner.
Which is to say it works, but you need a lot of effort to make a scan printable.

Simple objects work (but why scan a simple one?) more complex ones take many hours to work through :)
I'd rather cad it up from scratch.

Have not had a lot of use from it, but I keep waiting for that one, perfect usecase.

Yes it is generally pretty easy to figure out which ones were scanned :)
If they do real cleanup it can be harder.
