I am 4 hours into a print that will in the end be 8.75 inches tall. My present configuration has an oiler on top on the extruder which is about one and a half inches. I know the Robo R1 is advertised as having a 10 inch hieght build area, but I was wondering if others have been able to get it to print a full ten inches tall without scraping the top of the machine? Thanks

    Rethink your oiler.
This costs 1/2 inch and really none at all since I don't use the top cover.

The robo is not advertised as 10" tall but rather 8" tall. The build dimensions are 9x10x8 for X, Y, Z.

    In reality they're more like 220 x 254 (or 245 if they built it wrong) x 210.

It's always best to actually move the printer to its limits to determine what you can do instead of trusting numbers from anyone else.

I use that same style, no build height issue... As far as the bed size... Well advertised and what works are most defianently 2 different things

Mike, I tested out my x and y bed limits and came up with 224 x 245. You said that y would be 245 "if they built it wrong." Can you provide clarification? Wondering if there is a way I can get another 10mm on the y axis?

FYI, when I "home" the Y axis, the print head actually doesn't go to all the way to the front end of the hot bed (it's short about 10mm), however when I move the extruder to the other Y axis limit, it is moves well over an inch beyond the hot bed.

You are lucky if you can get 8" x 8" on the bed, given the size of the heater attached to the bottom.

Take the top cover off and you can go a little higher :)

Couple couplers some long lead screws...the world can be yours

    ;-)

In all seriousness i tend to stick with 7.5 max with the top on just so im sure. Thats way short of the top but it makes me feel better
