    Hi all,

Just got my Robo 3D R1+ this past Saturday and it has been printing nonstop since I got it.

My son is printing his case for the PiGRL2 and I am printing add-ons for the printer like spools holders and fan cowl.

I have been trying to figure out a way to start a print and pause at a specific layer and put a different color filament in and resume printing.

Based on some research I believe there is a way to do this if you have the LCD add-on which allows you to pause and start an SD card print.

I do not have the LCD screen and I am curious if there is a way I can accomplish this without one.

There is gcode M226 which pauses a print but I did not see any other gcode to resume. So what is the point of that code?

    Thanks in advance!

Personally love the lcd screen. You can pause and restart change the temp while printing see roughly percent complete and the best part no computer stuck to the printer. Well worth the 30 bucks or less for the lcd

$30 doesn't sound bad. I did a search but the one I found they were asking $70.

You could just edit the GCode to pause at a specific layer, but that takes more effort :)

the new matter control has a box you can put in the layer number and it will pause it at that point.

Octoprint can also pause/resume a print, plus it is wifi-enabled with the Pi 3.

Slightly more expensive to set up than the LCD controller though.

I have a PiZero. Would that work for Octoprint?

Installed Octoprint on my RasPi 2 last night and have it running. Very nice piece of software.

@Nathan Simers - I have tried using MC but the auto leveling is not even close. I have been using Cura and the auto leveling works great and the prints are very nice.

@daniel871 - I do see the pause option. I will research it a little bit before i try to do anything.

jonnyb44 - I was looking at this one too.. did you have to do any software configuration - or just plug it into the arduino board?
anything you did to set it up would be helpful - Thanks!

    I have the R1+

Yes you do modify the software. Novice expert on YouTube has a great video on how this is done. It's super easy

Ah.. yes, I've seen that video ... only concern I have is that somewhere I read you had to be careful messing with the firmware on the R1+ (which I have) ... and I'm clueless about editing the firmware .. guess I'll have to do some research on doing that - is that just getting something from arduino's website (an editing/upload program)?

It really is follow the video step by step. So easy. If yours is the plus then you want the leadscrew update firmware.modify and upload the board should come to life and away you go

Interestingly enough it looks like Robo release a V2 firmware for the R1+ recently. Last I checked it used the leadscrew upgrade firmware.
