I removed the smooth rods from the holders which went fine, but when I put them back in two of the balls popped out. Is it possible to put them back in to fix whatever bearing they came from or should I just get new bearings?

If new bearings than what would you recommend?

LM8UU, Amazon or wherever floats your boat. The cheapest ones will likely be noisy.

I switched all mine from LM8UU ball bearings to Sintered Bronze Self-lubricating Solid Bearings, there is a thread in the Mods sections explaining their use in both X and Y axes. The result was smoother and quieter operation. After they were broken in, of course.

I wanted to go there but I need a working printer first to print the additional parts. I was trying to put it back together when a couple of the balls popped out. For now it will be easier to find some more LM8UU and find a way to unglue the magnets to glue them to the new glass. The bed extension project didn't turn out as planned.

Yeah for being rather cheap those were actually not bad bearings.
If they turn out to be too noisy for you just shop around for more pricey ones :)

They should be good for now as long as I can get printing again.

I use them in my robo now and am quite happy. I had ordered a cheaper set and immediately pulled them back out lol and I really don't care about volume but holy cow lol.

    I think you'll be happy
