I was hoping for actual video of one of the printers coming apart mid-print.

My guess is we won't see anything until 1H 2017 (not before June 30th for those that don't know marketing speak).

Looks like the kickstarter will be live in a few hours.

There's a countdown timer on robo3d.com and it's less than 8 hours to go...

Interesting...I almost wondered with Braydon coming into the shoutbox yesterday. Only a week off his reported schedule. Also, they have done the rebranding of their site with the new logo and name. So.... This might actually happen.

Is it just me or does the removable build plate they are showing on Facebook and Twitter look a bit warped? It does look adjustable possibly.

Look, having a warped build plate is practically tradition with Robo3D.

Prototypes. They do not yet have a production run to cast our eyeballs on.

So @mark tomlinson does that mean the Pinshape contest will likely be giving away a prototype. I can't imagine that they can ramp up production that fast if they are asking for money to offset production costs at this late juncture.

Maybe you get the first production one made :)

    This one
    https://pinshape.com/contests/design-for-electronics-contest

Since most of the designs I do now go to Shapeways to monetize them, I generally don't enter these contests. They are doing them to increase market share and there are a lot of shitty designs on there that people are trying to sell. And probably 99% of the for sale ones are just STL files and no source files. I am not a fan of that business model. I am not opposed to selling designs, but I expect to be able to modify that design as I see fit, if I have to pay for it.

Well, I have no insight, but either they give away a production prototype or you get the first production run.
I forgot about that contest :) I suspect they will give out an early production model myself.

@Braydon ROBO 3D was here in shoutbox yesterday to answer any questions and all I heard was crickets.
Perhaps someone should have raised some of these questions then :)

He was in the shoutbox for all of one minute before posting an email address and leaving.

Hey, strike while the iron is hot... he who hesitates is lost and all that :)
    Email him.

Everything here (from all of us) is speculation. Some of it well reasoned speculation, but still...

Also my question would be in two parts: whether the R2 or whatever it's being called now will have any of the firmware features that are present in the current version of Marlin (ideally, the calibration/compensation scripts currently used in the Original Prusa MK2), and what the R2 adds that makes it worth costing over $400 more than the current model.

EDIT: And I have zero interest in private communications when it comes to the new printer.

Braydon should post a general Q&A thread and actually bother to respond to it here.

I think I'll just make my own printer of these days :) have enough random parts here.

With the experience we all have accumulated & the gracious info shared, & barring the Evil Corp thing, there is no reason that should be a on everyones back burner........

Someone from Robo3D should. That would be an excellent starting point. If your market is only new users then maybe not, but if you want current users to upgrade or buy another... yep.
