    Sorry, but for $699 retail on the C2, the Prusa MK2 would be my preference. The retail for R2 $1299 is interesting. I'd have to see a review.

    The C2 is $699 and doesn't have a heated build platform? How is that going to print anything that isn't PLA, again?

    On-board slicing, but no details as to the engine used or if there is any customization allowed? Because that has worked so well for other printers with shitty on-board slicers in the past?

    They're still talking about the "free 12 month subscription to Fusion360" on the kickstarter even though everyone that's in the maker community knows Fusion360 is free if you're on the Startup/Hobbyist license?

    The only interesting one is the R2.

    And there is no Commercial version of Fusion 360, just different licenses.
    Free per year for Startup and Hobbyists.
    Free per three years for Students and Educators.
    ~$600 per year for everyone else.

    What's interesting is how much of the extra features are tied into their app. What happens to all of the users if their app has unforgivably bad coding and crashes all the time? Is the printer essentially a brick if the app fails to function properly, or will the printer still have the standard manual file loading features common to every single printer on the market that has an SD card port?

    You can (technically) print a lot without a heated bed. If they are going with the PEI bed then that makes it more realistic, but still limits you on what you can print since there are some really nice (non-ABS) filaments that do need a heated bed. Some a little heat and some a lot.

    I am also concerned about how open the hardware is. There are a lot of questions and hopefully they address them via the KS campaign if nothing else.

    The on-board slicing has been done before with other boards (this one among others: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1177488680/bbp-making-your-3d-printer-faster) You get (essentially) Octoprint on the board. Of course I have no clue how they are proceeding at this stage. (full disclosure : I do own an BBP board and it does most of what it says on the tin).

    I don't fault them for that too much, I know how that goes.
    A) PR Crap... Industry I work in maybe one person is allowed to post anything online related to what we are doing, and it has to go through PR first.
    B ) Busy.

    Their kickstarter is live now and almost reached its goal already.

    Other than early bird price/pre-order. It doesn't seem like they really needed this kick-starter to me.

    Too many questions for me still..and looks like its going to run out of backer slots before I figure out the answers anyway.

    Whats in it? is it still open source hardware?

    What is up with the print head? Quick change thing...that hasn't worked for other printers very well.

    Closed source as all hell, with a very ill-advised attempt to mimic Makerbot's extruder design insofar as quickly changing it out is concerned.

    Yea it sounds closed source by reading the FAQ. "Accepts .STL, and .OBJ" what about .gcode?

    Its one of the reasons the makerbot sucked after the 2/2x. Or one of the reasons wanted nothing to do with it. the 2/2x was good.

    lol :D I think it was suppose to do alot of stuff in the "think tank" stages. I think now its just a FDM printer.

    I'm a Kickstarter backer of the R2 and made my decision based on the excellent prints I've seen and used from an R1+. Watch today's Robo Facebook video - Open source philosophy continues. IR Sensor bed leveling. C2 now in production. R2 on track for Jan 2017. R2 2nd print head < $100. Looking forward to finally owning a 3D printer!
