Hey Guys! Thanks for the feedback. I hope we can do another one of these soon! I will talk to the team and see if they're up for it!

Wonder if an E-Nable campaign would be something everyone could get behind. See how many hands our community can make. It's more involved than just printing a part so might not be the best idea. Of course you would need to size it as well.

Hey +Harry what ever happened to Robbie? Is he now at RoBo HQ?
Any chance of getting some good pics of him? Maybe a 360 shot so people can see where their parts ended up?

@Harry I think we need to do another community build for CES 2017. What do you think about doing an R2D2 life sized model and the winner gets a new R2 printer? What do you say? Rogue One is coming out and the R2 and C2 (missed opportunity to call it D2) are being released. Could be a fun time my friend.

Hey guys, here's a quick snap of Robbie, who regularly greets our guests in the lobby of Robo HQ:

I'll try to snap some different angles tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone who participated in this project.

I'm a member of the R2D2 Builders Club and have all of the files for the scaled version of R2D2. One batch of files is R2D2 in 60 seperate STLs. So we could make this as big or small as we want. A 1:1 scale would be awesome. Let's do this! Just doing another community build for CES 2017 would be great. We have our giant mascot...now Robbie needs a robot friend.

Oh here is a thought...how about the winner gets a new R2 like I already suggested, BUT they also get to pick a school of their choice to win a new C2 (or another R2 depending on how generous Robo is). So then it is an R2C2 set that you share with the community. Just thinking out loud guys.

I've never been involved in such a thing, how does it work? Distribute files to a group and each one prints the part(s) assigned to them and send them to a central assembly location?

    Sounds very interesting.

And for Robbie most of us customized the part we were printing to include our name, with permission from Robo of course. Then they had a drawing of all the participants and they got a new R1+. It is a lot of fun and cool to see it all come together. Didn't make it to CES 2016, but trying to get things lined up for 2017. Would be fun to experience at least once and, if we do this, to see the completed project in person.

Ok, sounds like fun. I'd like to participate as long as I can ask questions LOL.

    Thanks.

That would be awesome! And once all the parts are printed, you could send them to Chaos Core Tech for the paint job! Not sure if he has a tag in these forums?

We'll his wife is the painting talent. Garrett is learning quick though. And yes his tag is @ChaosCoreTech, but he is rarely on here. He made a small scale R2D2 with some robotics included. http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/3d-printed-r2d2.7671/
