All mine are fdm. Ill let you know after my ultimaker gets here tomorrow. Currently my prusa i3 mk2 and bcn sigma give the best quality single color prints. But each printer has its strong points and severe weaknesses lol. The sigma is my only dual material machine (until the multicolor add on comes in for mk2).

It is...lets say painful. Dual color is a huge headache, dual material is worse and its probably 3x longer print times. Single color is fast accurate and nice prints 20161021_063701.jpg 20160812_193816.jpg 20160812_230346.jpg

Then again the ditto pro is a ultimaker clone and it gives a good result

Meh lol their all good machines if you willing to tinker, upgrade and tweak :)

I'd bet some more experienced users like @WheresWaldo and @mark tomlinson can get better results off their robos then I get off some of my higher end machines. All about what you need them to do and how you go about doing it(I think they'd both agree :D).

My R1+ has always and most likely will always be my favorite little work horse. it just works :D...did require some tweaks and modifications to get there but theres no looking back :D

Those look awesome. I do love my Robo. What layer heights are you generally printing?

Which Ultimaker did you order? The thing I don't like about the ultimaker is the filament size. 2.85. That's not playing nice. I've been buying inland from micro-center. Cheap and seems to work well.

I bought the 2+ extended. The 3mm filament is pretty common on european printers. Sigma is 3mm too. The plan was to convert to 1.75 on the sigma but flexibles work no hassle on it in 3mm so ill probably conver 1 head to 1.75 and the UM after the contract is up that i bought it for

Its not so bad buying 3mm honestly :)

I buy filament from all over. I personally didnt like inland but do like foxsmart, hatchbox, colorfabb eetc etc

So you can run 3mm in the UM? I was under the impression they ran 2.85 so you had to buy it through them. Not true?

In Simplify3D, how do I set a starting offset off the bed? My printer has always started too close to the bed and in Matter control, I just put a Z offset in the printer settings of .12mm. I still need to do the same thing here.

Startup GCode script (under the process)
    Mine looks like this:

    G28 ; home all axes
    G1 Z5 F5000 ; lift Z by 5mm
    M565 Z-0.6 ; set the offset for auto-leveling mechanism
    G29 ; run auto-level
    M117 Waiting for extruder
    M104 S[extruder0_temperature] T0 ; tool 0 temp - S3D specific

Change the -0.6 to your number

Thanks Mark. Only confusion I have is, why is it minus? I guess that depends on what M565 is. You seem to be the g code guru. Do you have a list of all the g code for the Robo? I use G code all day long, but it's a little different for CNCs.

It is GCode specific to Marlin :)
You can get a good list here: http://reprap.org/wiki/G-code

Tells you what firmware supports which ones

Worth noting that GCode is not 3D printing specific and was rather developed for CNC and lathe and other mechanical tools like that. It works well (obviously) for printers. You just need to know which firmware and version to figure out what is supported. M565 is an odd duck and is now removed in later versions of Marlin (none of which are official Robo releases)

So I've only been using Simplify 3d for the afternoon and it's amazing. I've been experimenting and it is so far ahead of what comes with the printer. I'll never look back. Thanks again guys.
