Please help I'm new to 3d printing and my layers seem to be shifting/sliding and there is space in between each layer. [IMG]

Hi @Jamie_1 Please give us more information. Did you buy this printer new? Any firmware changes? What have you done so far? Slicer and settings?

More than happy to help but we need alot more information on your set up to be able to help you.

I did not change any settings in print in pla and medium quality. I'm using matter control and haven't changed anything except once to slow down speed and turn off retraction for ninjaflex, except that was a disaster. So I just put the settings back to normal as they came and layers are sliding. I got this printer New for Christmas as well. Also I do have my hot end fan running, so I don't know what could be causing this?

I also disassembled some of the parts on the extruder to remove a jam, except I took pictures of how it was and I put it back exactly how it was originally

    So what filament is that?
PLA, ABS? You mentioned NinjaFlex.... that stuff is not printed at all like normal ones.

Ninjaflex was a problem so I don't print with that anymore I only did once. The pig was printed in pla and that is when the layers are sliding

Ah, OK. That makes it easier to comment on :)

There are threads on how to make NinjaFlex work once you get beyond the initial issues with PLA.

Three places to refer to for visual troubleshooting:

    https://www.simplify3d.com/support/print-quality-troubleshooting/
    http://reprap.org/wiki/Print_Troubleshooting_Pictorial_Guide
    http://support.3dverkstan.se/article/23-a-visual-ultimaker-troubleshooting-guide

Looking those it could be over extrusion, but checkout the sections on LINES ON THE SIDE PRINTS as well.
    Start by calibrating your extruder:

Ok I'm reading them now, but it's weird that when I made a phone holder about that size it came out perfectly fine and one print I sell and print very often comes out perfect sometimes but others the layers slide and don't stick to each other like on the pig

Layers actually deflecting is a slip in the drive train.
It is possible that certain models cause it more than others due to the toolpaths and speeds the slicer chooses.

If you slow down the overall print move speeds by say 1/2 does it get better?

Then it is absolutely a lose mechanical bit.
I would strongly suggest you check the sprockets attached to the drive motor shafts for the belts.
Often the set screws are NOT tight

Is a lose mechanical bit also the reason that a print like the pig is so bad but then this stand comes out so perfect?[IMG]

Very possible. Loose mechanicals will drive you nuts, fine for 30 hours into a 32 hour print then bam! Then other times cant get one hour

It could be the combination of moving both axes at the same time, Your pencil case example is square so generally only one axis is moving at any single side.

Exactly. If one of the setscrews is missing or loose on say the Y axis (just as an example) then quick/sudden changes of direction in the Y axis will cause some micro slippage of the cog on the stepper shaft (but only for the Y). If the slicer generates toolpaths that don't do this then you get a good print.

It does not carry over between prints since homing the axis will reset the postiion.

I figured out the problem, it's half of the robo spools I bought have come tangled up. So there is so much tension it can't pull the filament out. I found this is tonight when the filament snapped because there was so much pressure pulling it tangled. Then I checked my spools and a lot of hem where like that!
