I figured out the problem, it's half of the robo spools I bought have come tangled up. So there is so much tension it can't pull the filament out. I found this is tonight when the filament snapped because there was so much pressure pulling it tangled. Then I checked my spools and a lot of hem where like that!

    That is a good catch.
    Unusual too.

Is this common for spools to come tangled? I bought them directly from the robo 3d website

    No, it is not.
Every time I had a tangled spool myself it was because I was not careful getting the loose end off without it getting tucked under another strand of filament that came loose. It is very easy to do that.

However that does not rule out the possibility of one being incorrect.

It is very hard given how filament is spooled for it to get crossed when when fed onto the spool. It is easy for it to be tightly wound and want to stick, but to actually get crossed up means it had to be done after the filament was on the spool. So while not usual for a spool to arrive that way it is possible.

Ok thanks, I will make sure to be careful and check each time that I don't cross the end under another strand.

If you take any spool and pull off a few feet while watching it you can see if it is crossed up. Then just wind back what you need and load 'er up :)

    Good luck.
