Someone had an earlier thread in o Pi Cam for the C2, here is a picture for our install. You need the longer cable (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M4DAQH8) then just connect one end to the PI Camera port and run it up the side.

    Camera.jpg

Getting it running on the pi requires login via SSH/Putty (download putty here: http://www.putty.org/) and connect to the pi (user:pi and password: raspberry). Instructions on enabling camera over here:

It is easy to pick a mount point since the hotend does not move and and down :)

Sure, I think the one I used was 24in (which was a way long) but any extra you can leave curled up under the bed.
It helps to partially remove the bottom plate and then you can easily run the cable right up behind it.

Can get more pictures if needed

edit: the one I linked was indeed the one I used.

Link was posted in first post :)
edit: OK that link is now dead or moved...
try this. Let me know if that doesn't sort it.
If you have specific questions feel free to post them up.
    Essentially you
    • install the hardware on the Pi
    • enable it at the Linux/Raspbian level (couple of steps here)
    • then turn it on/off from OctoPrint

How feasible is this for beginners?

    How beginner :)
Beginner with printers or with Pi or both :)

Watch the video and if you feel confident doing that the rest is just doing it with the Pi mounted inside the bottom of printer.
You have to remove the one plate on the inside bottom of the printer to run the camera wire.

The cable is only $3 on Adafruit, btw. I guess that's where I'll be buying mine (and I'll pick up another Pi Zero W since you can only buy them onesie-twosie these days).

I went with a longer cable than I really needed.

As long as you are familiar enough with a Pi to plug in the camera cable (or OK messing with electronics in general) you should be fine. It is nothing complicated, but I hate to presume on someone else's comfort zone :)

From a hands-on challenge, opening the base and getting the Raspberry Pi out of its clips (and returning it there) sounds like half the battle to me. The ribbon goes in like this (3 minutes into the video). Sounds like we just follow the guidance in these threads for what happens to enable the camera in Raspbian and get it to be seen in, say, OctoPrint. When I get mine running I'll write something about how to actually setup a time-lapse video in OctoPrint or how to access the streaming port.

I just removed the bottom cover completely from the printer and put the cable into it while it was mounted. I then ran the camera cable up behind the bottom plate when I re-installed the plate.

It's okay, I'm checking more overview and setup video regarding this. Thanks, Mark.

Awesome. The cable receptacle is on the TOP side of the Raspi, as mounted.

When you install your camera, can you do some sort of written/video tutorial? I would love to add a camera, but I'm afraid of ruining the C2 image on the pi. I have minor experience with the raspberry pi (RetroPie) and some experience with Terminal (I have coded obj-c apps though).

I don't really want to store images, but rather view the process through the app.

Just make a backup copy/image of the SD card first. You REALLY should do that anyway.
