I've encountered this problem a few times in Matter Control, where it warns me that I need to reduce the polygons before I can print, can I do this in Matter Control or do I need to use another piece of software first?

Or should I move away from Matter Control in favor of something else?

I'm trying to print a Venus Box

It usually means you are out of memory for the slicer to use :(
Or the slicer program just wasn't written to accommodate a large slice.

If you want I can demo slice one for you with Simplify3D to see if it complains.

I may have got round it, I just installed Cura, and I tried slicing the files in that and I didn't have a problem generating the gcodes, I'll see if it prints something that resembles the design !

    I'll update when I've printed.

Yea, changing the slicer is the best way to sort it. It may just be an artificial limitation in MC due to how they wrote it.
    Good luck!
