Hey guys - got a roll of this wood filament with my printer and want to try it. I have read several threads regarding settings and many say just use the same settings you would use with regular PLA. I am using S3D and a .4mm nozzle. Any recommendations on layer height, infill, temp, and speed? Thanks as always.

So from that link, don't leave the filament in the hotend after the print. Push some regular PLA through to clean it out or use some hotend nozzle cleaning filament. A bigger nozzle size is recommended but ok with a .4. Be cautious printing below 200 micron resolution to avoid clogs. I don't think it is abrasive, but some fills are. So a hardened nozzle will last longer than a brass one, but brass is cheap. Just remember that any E3D V6 nozzle will fit into the Hex as well if you are thinking about shopping. Good luck. I hear it smells great and will take a stain.

Thanks. Yes it did. Lol. My son has a Robo too and we hadn't tried wood fill yet. Whole basement smells good. We actually like it. Thanks again for all of the great tips.

Ah man that is great that both you and your son have a Robo. Mine might be getting one as well since he is on mine all the time. I just need to find the right deal on the shell and I can put all of my extra parts together to make a new one. Haha! Well, I am glad it is working for you man and happy printing to you and your son.

That's what I thought too. Came with black, white, metallic gold, metallic silver, woodfill, and strawberry scented.

Glad I found this thread, I've had nothing but problems printing wood filament, I love the results but I've had a ton of jams and snapped filament, especially on tall prints, it seems the filament bends more on the final stages of tall prints and is enough to make it snap, certainly in my experience.

I'm on my first spool of wood myself.
I find it is brittle too. I'm using an oiler and I have my spool mounted directly on top of the printer so it doesn't bend at all.

The finished models have been great but tend to be delicate. Not for items that need to be spindly and strong.

I am printinting at about 190C/45C with hairspray for adhesion.
