If I take a roll off I store it in a zip lock wit desacant pack and suck out as much of the air as I can.
But I usually use up a whole roll at a time.

That makes sense. Im currently printing a top mounted spool holder as I type this up. I just hope it holds up.

I am not a fan of the top mounted style since they can fall... and break something (like your bed).

Yeah I read that on one spool holder that i found on thingiverse. So I looked for a different one and I think I found a decent one maybe. I just dont know how clear/transparent PLA will hold up as a spool holder mounted on the top. The design of the spool holder however looked like it should be stable enough

Not so nuch that the holder will fall (although that is a thought) more that it (the spool) might get dropped. :)

Our delta has a top mounted spool and it is a pain for that very reason. Accidental despooling sucks almost as bad as a broken bed

Ah ha, I didn't account for the "butter-finger" factor.
    Point taken.

Any good links for a recommended top spool holder/feeder? I have had multiple jobs go unfinished and then had to resolve problems in the head from filament breakage.

I use a hatchbox wall mounted spool holder. 12 bucks on amazon. works well. been using mine for a few years. If you dont want to mount it on the wall @mark tomlinson built one that stands on the floor and feeds multiple printers and alot of members use top mount spool holders that can be printed (I dont like those....breaks beds and what not)

Since everyone is sharing, I use this type:

I can set it down to if I want.

Well I try to find the best pace to put the spool that feeds the best. If the filament gets tangled it's a bad situation all around either it drops or gets pulled in or both. The only thing I do is inspect it and hope for the best.
