I just got my 2md R1++, and the file, settings, temp. are the same as my other R1++, yet I'm having trouble with the prints on the new one. Yes it was a refurbished, but I spent a week going through everything to make sure nothing was still damaged. All the rods are straight, no problems with any bearings, belts are tight. I added an XXL lcd but I have one on the other one as well, so I print both from an SD card. I added some other mods as well, but nothing to extravagant (feet, cooling, quick filament change, reel holder). Could it be that the firmware needs updating? It shows on the lcd ROBO3DR1V3 ready. My other one shows ROBOR1PLUSV2 ready. Settings for both are below:
    Extruder temp. - 209°
    Bed temp. - 45°
    Layers - .2
    Fan on after 2nd layer
    Z offset - .5

The blue lcd is my first R1++
The yellow is my new R1++
And the calibration cube is from the new R1++[IMG][IMG][IMG]

It certainly looks (visually) as if you are getting under extrusion in spots and right out of the box the stock firmware is almost always under extruding anyway.

Holy crap that's confusing for someone new to calibrating the extruder.

Calibrating the extruder is something that I did not do, so I will do that later today when I get home.

mark 100mm, extrude 100mm (or tell it to) then measure and do the math

new eSteps value = old eSteps value * (100mm/actual mm extruded)

    Change firmware and upload.

I just figured Tom's video would be a better explanation :)

The actual extruded number is how far the mark moved from where it started...

So do I change the esteps on the lcd, or in matterhackers?

If you do it in MatterControl you are NOT changing the firmware, but the override value in the EEPROM (flash eprom) and that can get reset on you at some point and you will not remember all the values you stored in there. If you alter the source and upload you have the source.

I can try, but never messed with Arduino. Don't even know what Arduino Compiler is. I followed the link u sent, but just looks like a bunch of files to download.

Read the section titled: "Flashing the firmware"

I did what the "flashing firmware" said, but it when I tried to download the arduino file, it said I already had 1.6.9 installed

So... just use it. That is ok if you already have it.

This is exactly what I am saying, I have no idea how I already have the 1.6.9, nor how to add it to the Arduino board. The section on "flashing the Arduino" only tells me how to download the firmware, not how to add it. I'm getting frustrated, lol I will check this in a few, I have the Stanley Cup Semifinals to watch.

I am going to attempt the firmware change, wish me luck. I don't know where to change the esteps figure, but I'll play around with it.

Does 1211.96 sound right for the new esteps? sounds really high to me given the factory esteps was 723.3

I went by Toms Guide, after measuring 150mm then extruding 100mm, I came up with 90.33mm of filament not extruded. I then subtracted 90.32mm by 150mm. Multiplied the original esteps of 723.3mm by 100, then divided it by 59.68mm (the amount my extruder actually extruded). After all that I came up with 1211.96

Try running it several times and throw out the highest and lowest numbers then average the rest. That should put you in the ballpark.

If you don't want to measure it that many times just put in a value close to 800-820 and you should be fine.
