Yesterday my 3d printer quick extruding, the gear will work for short periods of time than stop entirely. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure what gear you mean, I can't see an obvious case of the GregWade large gear stopping. If you mean the GreagWade is not extruding or the motor is not running when it should be then your best bet is to see of the stepper driver for the extruder is working correctly (swap it with one from another axis -- like X , Y or Z) and see if the problem moves with it.

Failure of the extruder to run correctly is usually the stepper driver or the stepper motor.

I tried what you suggested and the printer is still doing the same thing.

If you swapped stepper drivers and tbe problem moved with the motor then you have a bad stepper motor. Make sure you know which it was.

Fan quit working on my ramps board and I experienced crazy Extruder motor problems ( randomly stopping for a second ), due to ramps overheating. Could be a possibility.

I had this issue and it was a crack in the stepper motor cable. I replaced that and it worked with out issue. Figured it out by, the the motor stopped turning I could move the cable bundle side to side and the motor with start moving again. I made a post about the cables and someone referred a link to them on eBay.
