So I have been using hairspray for additional bed adhesion for quite some time. I do not clean my bed regularly but when the build up gets kind of lumpy I know it is time. The interesting part was noticed this morning. It has been raining non-stop here for a few days, my office (where the printer is located) has a windows protected by a porch and I have had it open all this time. Enough time that there is a noticeable but not uncomfortable increase in humidity in that room. I went through my normal routine before testing a print and scrapped the bed with my 6" wide putty knife to knock off the lumps, but instead all the hairspray came off. My bed was as clean as if I had used glass cleaner on it. Now I see I will need to monitor room humidity a bit better and finally understand why people who regularly use hairspray complain so much about humid weather.

Crazy! Sounds like it all congealed into a single mass and slid off?

What is more surprising is that I have not been bitten by this (yet) ... I effectively live in a swamp from an atmosphere perspective.
    Nice catch :)

It certainly softened, usually it forms a hard crust on the bed. But this peeled off just as if it were glue stick in consistency.

I use hair spray/ glue stick combo but I always clean my bed after 5 print and reapply. I worry a print will slidearound after so many and ruin the one print I don't want jacked up

I occasionally look at my bed in disgust and then defer cleaning it until next week.

I just use glue stick but I also clean my bed after every print. It honestly takes like 15 seconds with a damp paper towel. I typically clean as its heating up then I apply more glue stick, pretty simple routine.

But I could definitely see that happening under humid/damp conditions with the hairspray eventually. I'm in the Black Hills so I don't have to worry about it!

To each their own! I prefer a clean/smooth print surface for every print, but I also think I have OCD lol! :)
