While printing, the filament gear/motor is making a weird chirping noise when it stops or maybe retracts. I'm uploading a video. Pay attention to when the gears STOP. That's the noise I'm talking about.
I need advice on what it might be. Thanks in advance.

Almost sounds like backlash. You can try printing some herringbone gears, they are a nice upgrade and eliminate backlash in the gears.

I was wanting to print some of those. Aren't there some settings you have to change for those? Also, it prints fine with no noise for the most part. It's only when it starts and stops a lot. Like around an edge or something like that. I thought maybe the motor but no noise most of the time and it doesn't get hot either.

I would suggest calibrating the extruder when you do it.
    For two reasons:
    1) The original numbers Robo used are crap
    2) In the event you calibrated with the old gears recalibration will assure you it is spot on for the new ones.

I switched to these type gears on one of our FDM printers. They are nicer and not too difficult to print.

What kind did you print @marktomlison ? I have a few saved on thingaverse. I have never calibrated my extruder. Is that hard?

A little test printing and little tweaking of firmware:

    This will work:
    https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:760093

as will just about any of the GregsWade herringbone gear sets you pull off of thingiverse (robo specific or not).

You want to do the calibration so that you are extruding the correct amount of filament. It is normally a good thing to do with the stock setup because the Robo firmware is only "ballpark" numbers as delivered. Almost every one of them will be slightly off (10% is normal, sometimes more)

You can print these from any material (I used PLA on a couple -- these are low speed gears) if you get a chance down the road printing a set out of a nylon (or Alloy910) will be perfect since those will almost never wear out.

lol I can't even get ABS to print right. I'm scared to try nylon. I will, however print out a couple of them in PLA for both my R1's. I watched the video. I think I can handle that.

ABS can be a pain on this printer, but don't fear the nylons :)
As long as you get a good blend from a good brand you will be fine.
Alloy910 (for example) is as easy print as PLA.

I have tried some generic 'no-name' nylons and they were a joke. Messy to print because you have no idea what the blend was really so no way to set the perfect temps/speeds.

Thank you guys. So I'm ok as far as my motor. Just some new gears and I'm good to go? I saved your design @Ryan TeGantvoort Thank you. What kind of Alloy 910 do you guys recommend?

There is only one kind: http://taulman3d.com/910-features.html

You can buy it from a number of places though (some at a bit of a discount) you do not have to buy it direct from Taulman.

Is this it? This seems to be about the price it's going for, for a 1 lb spool.

    Thanks again!!
