    My startup code
    Code:
    M82
    G1 Z15
    G21
    G28
    G90
    M117 Printing ...
Under the section called 'Additional terminal commands for post processing'
    Code:
    {REPLACE "; layer" "M117 Layer"}
I haven't restarted my machine, in the middle of a print.

I take it this was included to show a trick for what layer is currently printing as an optional hack for S3D users.

Okay, Now that I have it set up I am struggling to figure out if Z_PROBE_OFFSET (M851) is actually working. I am trying a few changes in Configuration.h to see if I can't get it working as it should.

Having to edit the mesh every time I reflash is getting old really fast.

I thought that UBL had a way to save off the mesh.

It does, but until I know UBL works, I just don't trust it.

Okay I am tired of fighting this firmware. The last 6 months have been a disaster for Marlin, no direction, no testing, no concern for usability. I am about ready to give up. I will personally be going back to 1.1.0 and MESH and dump all this shit they call UBL.

I just can't get two prints in a row that print the same way. Z_Offset appears broken and UBL behaves differently if you build your mesh with or without an offset specified. Also editing the mesh from the menu for some inexplicable reason offsets where it believes your mesh is! Babystepping also appears to be broken, and using babystepping to modify Z_OFFSET doesn't actually do anything but change the numbers since Z_OFFSET is broken.

I needed to actually use my printer, so I temporarily went back to a build from May 5th where MESH was still working.

Same here. But I've been breaking my archtoprint server too. Either way, my printer has become more puzzle than anything else.

@WheresWaldo are you using the MESH version at the start of this thread currently?

I temporarily went back further, using files from May 8th. But like I said, only temporary since I actually use my printer for printing projects.

There is some talk of a version 1.1.4 coming in a few days, then followed quickly by a 1.1.5 then supposedly that will be the last version before a refactoring of the code. From that point on only bug fixes and no new code. At least that is what they promise.

I tried today's files and it almost worked. The whole problem is that Z axis offset appears to be broken. It behaves differently under different situations. If I try to print the same model twice in a row the first print may be okay but the second is off sometimes by a significant margin (like the entire offset).

In your opinion is 1.1.1 from May 11 the most stable of the releases that support the mesh everyone loved so much? I only saw a 1.1.0 from may 3 and a 1.1.1 from may 11, but you spoke of using a May 8 build. :) I've revamped so much, and its working well, but its used daily, so tinkering at this point isn't a good idea till I get caught up with myself.

I used May 8 because I had the files on my PC. I think 1.1.0 is a bit more stable than 1.1.1 and 1.1.2 and 1.1.3. I hope that 1.1.4 fixes a lot of little things still broken.

    Wasn't there a communications bug in 1.1.0?
