Answered First layer uneven. Help!

    Hi All,
    I have recently calibrated the motors and extruder. It's now all bang on.
    However I get this when printing larger objects.

    I've been attempting to resolve this myself but after reducing the hot end temp and adjusting the Z offset I'm stumped.

    I'm sure someone will look at this and know exactly what's wrong. Unfortunately that person is not me.

    What is the hotend temp. that u are using now?

    I reduced at all the way to 180 but still the same problem. I'm printing PLA.

    I was running at probably 200 last week. I forget now. The smaller prints are good at 195.

    I had the same problem with my PLA, try upping the temp. to 230-240. I found after I calibrated and changed the esteps, the firmware (from the Robo website) was off a bit in the nozzle temp. as soon as I upped the temp. it printed perfect. Also make sure your parts fan is on.

    Thanks. I tried 200 but got the same result. I've upped to 210. Will report back.

    I had to go all the way to 220 on 1 machine and 230 on the other.

    Do u have just the factory, little fan underneath blowing on the ramps board?

    This was 215. Better but not great. It stopped due to temp fall error...

    Which could be related to all of this if the thermistor is faulty (since the temperatures are not stable). Bad thermistor or bad connection/wiring to it...

    Ok. I'll check the connections and order a new thermistor. I don't suppose you know the part number please?

    You need to have a fan blowing on that ramps board, the flat yellow items on the tight are fuses. When they get to hot they will either throw the error or shut everything down until cooled. To prevent this have a fan blowing on that board. I just use a 60mm computer fan.

    The beta did not have a fan, but it had no bottom plate either. Still even on the beta a fan is a really good idea.
    Mine had them added (I mounted them beside the RAMPS pulling air across it and out the case).

    Thanks for that Mark. I'll add a fan. I actually have another 3d printer arriving tomorrow. Maybe I can use it to print the spares and upgrades for this one. I've had it since before Xmas. Due to all the issues I've not printed anything I intended to print. Just spares and wasted filament.
    I have learnt a lot though

    Am I right to assume the unhealthy looking green wires are attached to a thermistor behind the alan screw?

    And as the comments indicate on that second one, it is a Marlin firmware TYPE 1 thermistor (which is the same as stock was on most Robos) so you don't even need to change the firmware... if you have in the past edited the thermistor to another type, just go back to a type 1.
