Geofs R2

I got an R2 from Robo so here are some pictures! Its set up and printing now.


In the box was a scraper, filament, flash drive, getting started book, powersupply/cord, 3 Allen wrenches, calibration paper, stylus tube lube. Normal stuff. Was missing the Bowden tube but I have tube so nbd.

So been using the r2 alot. Have had 2 issues that are being worked out.

1. Pogo pins died- replacements sent to me in under 1 week.

2. Machine randomly rebooting, then touchscreen unresponsive, then off. Found what appears to be a bad ribbob cable. New cable inbound. Machine is not down, just unplugged the screen and use robo UI.

Im quite impressed with the results im getting off the r2 unit

 

I'll have to actually find some PETG lol. I dont really use it all that often.

 

I printed some Deprime in polycarbonate yesterday. I was trying to dial in the Home Offset.

It was flat on the bottom when I pulled them off the build plate but the corners warped a bit when it cooled. No cooling fans during print.

 

So far I've printed Polymaker PC, Zortrax Z Ultrat, Generic Chinese ABS and a butt load of PLA trying to find the heatcreep everyone complains about lol. so far no real issues. @daniel871 I'll try to work ABS into the mix again soon and post some photos, just gotta get through the Halloween orders

 

Some warped a bit more than others. I need to find a better polycarbonate filament. As much as I like eSun, I don't like their ePC.

255°C Extruder / 45°C Bed / printed at 70 mm/s / No parts fans.

 

ABS is pointlessly more difficult, but still a good test. Those are really nice results with PC. All of the flavors of that I tried were more touchy than most others (but a lot tougher product when done).

I'd call the polycarb a far better contrast than ABS.

 

What I like is that I need to print a Oil Dipstick handle for my Nissan and I can use PC as PETG cannot withstand the heat. Plus PC is fire retardant and ABS is not. Just two pluses for PC over ABS or PETG when you need the properties.

If ABS would completely go away it wouldn't hurt my feelings one bit. @daniel871 find a more relevant test filament other than ABS.

 

PC is much harder to keep from warping than ABS. It would be a much better test.

Maybe ASA, I haven't really cared to look, what is the big deal about ASA?

 

Never used ASA as its just more expensive ABS and I have ABS machines lol. I have some more 1.75 PC but its experimental carbon fiber PC from a supplier so I dont think that would be a good test (everything else is 3mm). I think the most "painful" material I've got in stock right now is XT and it prints fine on everything lol. I'll run ABS through tonight if I get a free minute from this gigantor cosplay job I'm running on it. PLA isn't dead Everybody wants as big and cheap as possible. I'm running a butt load of PLA for all these halloween jobs people want.
