What sucks is it's probably cheaper to buy an LCD than pay for warranty shipping. But I agree, Robo should take care of it. They need to know what's really going on with these printers in order to make improvements/fixes...

Haha, wait, you're having to pay warranty shipping?

If the machine is under warranty there should be no shipping charges. Are you being charged shipping?

I haven't had to ship the whole printer in yet (hopefully not at all!), but did need a replacement pogo board. They charged me shipping on that, so I assumed that I'd have to pay return shipping if I sent the printer back.

Has it been six months since the R2 was released/shipped already?

nope :D but I have already seen people selling them 2nd hand so better to say then not to. Plus I think you have to register your Robo now otherwise no warranty. (rumor, havent seen that documentation)

I had to get a new POGO board and I wasn't charged shipping. And I'm even in Canada! But I did register the unit online for the warranty.

You probably should contact them and they will refund the shipping.

You would need to contact robo for updates on that. Haven't heard anything

There is a sign up for being notified when the dual extruder kit becomes available at robo3d.com/pages/dual-extruder-kit.

Has anyone ordered a second hot end off the Robo site and installed that for dual extrusion? It doesn’t look like there’s any way for the printer to push the filament into it.

Partnering with Mosaic makes me wonder if they’re giving up on the dual extrusion kit. Or if they’ve put it on the back burner.

I did it on a C2, the R2 was designed for a second extruder (with the stepper mounted one the bottom rear corner). The C2 was not designed for it, but uses enough of the same parts that it was not too bad to add.

However... dual or multi-extrusion is not 'all that and a bag of chips'
It is a pain to calibrate and a pain to model and slice for.

Contacted Robo yesterday about availability on the dual extruder kit for the R2, and this is what they said:

    Hi Christian,

We hope to have some sent out to our beta testers next week, and pending the success of that we will probably make them available a month or two after that but when that is we still do not know.

    Best regards,

    Dave

General Question: When will the dual extruder be available for the Robo R2?

    Meh.

Unless the use case is multi-material, not sure I would put in the work for multi-extruder, and I do a lot of modifying.

PVA would be the only exciting part. Take some strain off my poor sigma :D

Hello, I just wanted to chime in as I am in the works of adding a 2nd extruder to my R2. I have already had to mess with it more than I think I should have for only owning it for 5 months. Anyway, I asked about a firmware that works with the LCD and all I received back was a message saying the kid "should be ready" by FALL!!! Waiting on parts to create second extruder to mount on the back which it will fit nicely. I will add pics when it is complete. Any tips on firmware for 2nd extruder? Thanks in advance.
