    At one time I had contemplated this as an option for a 3D printer. Then thought that it was too much hardware for little return. I adjusted that thinking with thought of reversing the motion of the Z axis you could automate deep engravings with weaker laser hardware. Even to the point of cutting material with a few layer shifts in G-code.

    Interested to see how far you get with this.

    My printer is all-apart at the moment, I'm currently upgrading to a dual extruder setup. Once it's back together, this will be my next project:D

    I use an Epilog laser engraver 36x48 at work and I know how important it is to have the Z offset calibrated to a specific height. The further away your laser is from your material, the focal beam widens more and looses its power concentration:)

    I am very interested in any information for mounting and using my laser on my new R2. If you have walked this road, I sure would appreciate it.
