R1+. The little fan on the extruder has been sounding funny lately. I walked in a few minutes into a print the other day and it had finally jammed. I could smell the burning. I killed the print and removed the fan and cleared it. I was surprised it was still working. Of course. I had heat creep and the filament was jammed pretty bad. Last night I finally cleared it with a small allen wrench. I put everything back together and loaded filament. I noted the bed was warm because I use the preheat PLA to heat up the extruder to load the filament. After starting a new print I noticed the temp on the bed was dropping. Now it won't heat at all. It's a head-scratcher because I didn't touch anything to do with the bed.

I've checked all the connections. They look good.

I've put a multi on the terminals and it seems I'm not getting power coming off the one that heats the bed when I tell it to heat up. Ideas on what to check next? Or where to go from here?

    Thanks,

    Curtis

Likely a bad RAMPS board. Q3 drives the bed (a MOSFET) and it is famous for dying.
Make sure the small fan that cools the RAMPS under there is running, but if it is then it is a bad RAMPS

I happen to have this guy laying around. It sounds like the generic RAMPS is the way to go.

Jeez. After this past year. I'm pretty sure I can build a printer from scratch now. I've already built an i3 clone from a kit. It prints beautifully.

Thanks, You guys are always a ton of help.

The Robo is essentially a RepRap clone. Everything on it is generic except for the white case :)

The advantage there is that parts are cheap and easy to come by.

I've read through the generic RAMPS swap thread a few times now.

I think I have a pretty good understanding. Seems easy enough.

A couple questions. Does the generic RAMPS snap into the original Audrino board that came with the Robo?

Am I going to lose the use of my XXL LCD screen and have to go with the one that came with the generic RAMPS?

I'm not exactly clear where I'm hooking in the LCD lights and RAMPS fan.

    Thanks,

I'm going to give it a go, Once I build up the confidence.

The genric RAMPS swap seems to have done the trick. That wasn't too bad thanks to the thread.

    Thanks guys!
