Yes. Totally. Wet filament prints far different and it gets brittle (PLA does at least).

Ah okay, I've never run into problems with wet filament (that I was aware of) before.

I will try drying it out and see if that helps, but for now will further test with newer filament.

Thanks guys. Been printing awhile, but still learning lol.

The filament seems to snap very easily with little force.

Wet then for sure. You should be able to almost bend PLA back on itself with no trouble.
Toss it/replace it or dry it out. That last one is harder than it sounds :)
Store it with desiccant for a decent period and it will dry out some.

I usually just use it before then :)

Haha, I thought I would try a dehydrator out on it before I just toss it.

I definitely print more now than when I first started.

Appreciate the info, I think that is definitely the cause.

A dehydrator is an excellent idea if you have one.

I put the spool in there for 5 Hours yesterday and it appears to be more flexible. I'm going to give it another go and see if I can salvage the old filament.

I have printed several things fine with the new filament so I would say that was my problem.

Sometimes you can put the entire spool in an oven at 200° F for about an hour and that may dry it out enough.

There are a lot of approaches to drying filament. @WheresWaldo has identified another one.

I think the best suggestion is to not let it get wet (store it with desiccant when not in use).
Then again, I usually just live with it once it gets wet unless it is total crap (and then I pitch it).

Don't let nylon filament get wet, it can be seriously bad in that case.

Yeah I dried it for 5.5 hours and same issue. Tried another 8 and same issue, I just chunked the two spools which I bought at the same time and same manufacturer. Other people have had issues it seems about half way through the spool of that particular brand which is no longer around lol. They were the first spools I bought when I got into 3D printing.

I've usually had good luck with Hatchbox, all the way through the spool.

Then again, I go through at least one kg of Hatchbox PLA per week, so I guess mine never sits around outside of the bag for very long.

Yea, it takes longer than that to get wet even here in the Humidity (sorry, Sunshine) state.

Well I definitely print a lot more now than I did when I first got started haha.

I too like Hatchbox. At the time though I didn't know what was reliable and just bought something that had decent reviews on Amazon (which usually works anyhow), but there wasn't much to go on at the time.
