    If you are using WiFi only and need to hide the rPi, this is a bit smaller. Otherwise no real reason.

    Yea, all of mine (5, soon to be 6) use the little 3x2x5 inch boxes I printed that hold the Pi3 and the LCD.
    If you don't mind having that somewhere on or about the printer the Pi 3 is a perfect solution.
    I do see these being a decent answer if as @WheresWaldo pointed out you want only a WiFi interface (that is all I use on mine) and you want to embed it somewhere inside/on the printer so you require a smaller footprint. Cheaper too by a small amount.
