Dec 7, 2018 1:12 PM - Mark Ostrander: new member..new robo r1+ user. Y adjustment seems off. Prints outside the rear "area" losing adhesion to bed because of no heat i'm assuming? Any way to center the axix?
Dec 7, 2018 2:17 PM - Geof: Hi Mark, congrats on your new machine ! Please start a troublesgooting thread in the r1 section with pictures of off center so we can see what you mean please

Dec 9, 2018 at 7:48 AM - mark tomlinson: Also the only way to know what the print area really is would be to see where the bed gets "hot" since the "graphics" on the bed are ... decorative only.

Dec 14, 2018 5:17 AM - WheresWaldo: Geof, I noticed one thing this morning. If you delete spammers messages they still show up in the threads for admins, just with a red background. I saw that Matt and MArk also deleted some. If you click the user and select spam it deletes the thread permanently.
Dec 14, 2018 5:23 AM - Geof: I've noticed that too! Its super wierd.
Dec 14, 2018 5:23 AM - Geof: I think we see them but nobody else does.
Dec 14, 2018 5:35 AM - WheresWaldo: Yeah once deleted only the Admins see them. I no longer bother deleting messages, just mark the user as SPAM because that automagically deletes all their posts.
Dec 14, 2018 6:58 AM - mark tomlinson: Yep. Waldo has it nailed.
Dec 14, 2018 6:59 AM - mark tomlinson: There have been a number of them that leak in because they don't actually post anything they just create profiles with spam links. I have to delete those daily.
    Dec 14, 2018 8:44 AM - WheresWaldo: I don't think Geof and I can see those non-posters.
Dec 14, 2018 10:08 AM - Geof: nope, I dont see anybody unless they post
Dec 14, 2018 11:52 AM - WheresWaldo: Mark, have you used Prusa Slic3r PE recently? I think I am going to go back to it from S3D, at least for a while, more development and better bug tracking with Prusa.
Dec 14, 2018 12:23 PM - mark tomlinson: I can see about trying it again, lately most of the slices have been dependent on the process model since I am using layered ones to handle different sections of the print area in custom ways. It may be doable in Prusa version, but I'd need to learn it :)
Dec 14, 2018 12:24 PM - mark tomlinson: Next one I do that is just a plain straight-up slice and go I can give it a whirl

Dec 17, 2018 at 10:05 PM - Raymond Ramirez: I have a 3d r1, my z offset is off and cant figure out how to correct it in the settings, one thing ive figured out the other day is that i had to manually adjust the z axiz, up or down, then it printed , then after printing one project for 21hrs, it came out bigger than what i expected, or its like stretched longer, Im using mattercontrol. seemed like all the problem started when i downloaded cura,, and my z offset went crazy then i just cant

Dec 24, 2018 9:57 PM - Scott Tobin: Merry Christmas
Dec 24, 2018 9:58 PM - Scott Tobin: Anyone know where I can buy a replacemnt glas bed for an R1+?
    Dec 24, 2018 9:58 PM - Scott Tobin: glass*
Dec 25, 2018 4:09 AM - WheresWaldo: Pesonally, I would replace the glass bed with an aluminum bed and a cheap piece of window glass on top of it. Cheaper than borosilicate and better heat spread. Also since the bed heater is very hard to remove intact, you will likely need to replace it also.
Dec 25, 2018 7:57 AM - jim3Dbot: Merry Christmas Printer Chums.......A special thanks to you admins with the help you provide.....

Dec 31, 2018 5:59 AM - WheresWaldo: Its a slow day on the forums
Dec 31, 2018 6:55 AM - Geof: very slow. I'm moving even slower lol.

    Jan 4, 2019 6:37 AM - mark tomlinson: Another morning another :
    Jan 4, 2019 6:38 AM - mark tomlinson: [IMG]
Jan 4, 2019 6:38 AM - mark tomlinson: Only a dozen today, must be getting old...and slow
Jan 4, 2019 6:42 AM - mark tomlinson: Funny that as regular (posting) traffic has slowed down the spammers have gotten busier. (We still have a decent amount of traffic every day--logins and the like--just less posting)
Jan 4, 2019 10:32 AM - Geof: yep pretty quiet on posts, I think most things have been answered and a good search brings up the forum link :D
Jan 4, 2019 11:07 AM - WheresWaldo: Geof, I looked at the Projectr3d website and saw they were at MRRF, ingenious leveling system
Jan 4, 2019 11:25 AM - Geof: I'm honestly not a huge fan of it. Can send you pics and results of it if you want
Jan 4, 2019 11:25 AM - Geof: its very...not repeatable during production runs. Not a huge deal to babystep it, just a gripe
Jan 4, 2019 11:26 AM - Geof: The one I have is now heavily different from their current model- but software wise its still the same (leveling included)
Jan 4, 2019 11:27 AM - WheresWaldo: So the idea seems sound, but the implementation is what is suspect?
Jan 4, 2019 11:30 AM - Geof: I'm honestly not sure. Still working on figuring it out. I think it may be a mix of the IR just not being crazy repeatable or the low rigidity of the bed plate causing the probe points to differ enough to mess with the first layer. baby stepping around +.140 and -.150 depending on the print seems to sort it. The idea behind their leveling is a .2mm layer height which is sound- but my prints differ from .05 all the way up to .35 depending on
Jan 4, 2019 11:31 AM - Geof: the need and that may be what causes the issues. Hoping there is a solution soonish. One thing I dont like and I have the files to redesign is the blower for part cooling shroud wraps around and attaches to the cold end fan on the V6. The IR is mounted to that assembly. have already had to reprint once because a lose part broke the connection.
Jan 4, 2019 11:32 AM - Geof: suppose I should test repeat-ability at .2 and see if the issue is just my needs to constantly change layer height and if multiple prints at .2 make the difference.
Jan 4, 2019 11:33 AM - Geof: The annoyance i have is it does it with the same gcode files. so print 1 is ok, print 2 -.XXX print 3 fine or + .xxx etc etc.
Jan 4, 2019 11:34 AM - WheresWaldo: Interesting, the MRRF interview they did with Joel says the leveling precision is 0.002 mm which I find unbelievable. It would require some very high end sensors to have that kind of precision. The print they showed supposedly had a 0.02 mm layer height.
Jan 4, 2019 11:36 AM - WheresWaldo: I am thinking about updating to MGH12 linear rails, like the railcore has. Even cheap Chinese rails are pretty good once cleaned and properly lubed.
Jan 4, 2019 11:37 AM - Geof: dont think I've seen the interview. Would have to look for it. .002...no. not possible.
Jan 4, 2019 11:37 AM - Geof: the rails the railcore uses are zyltech brand rails
    Jan 4, 2019 11:37 AM - Geof: dirt cheap
    Jan 4, 2019 11:38 AM - Geof: http://www.zyltech.com/store/lead-screws-rods-and-rails/linear-rail/
Jan 4, 2019 11:38 AM - Geof: same as whats on my ProR3D machien
Jan 4, 2019 11:38 AM - Geof: (same guy kits the railcores)
    Jan 4, 2019 11:39 AM - WheresWaldo:
Jan 4, 2019 11:39 AM - WheresWaldo: I am pretty sure he said 0.002 mm accuracy
Jan 4, 2019 11:39 AM - Geof: oh thats the railcore machine- not the D18 ProR3D machine.
Jan 4, 2019 11:40 AM - Geof: yea they claim that on the railcores, but I dont really believe that either.
Jan 4, 2019 11:41 AM - Geof: its got a better leveling scheme than the machine I have because it runs current firmware (bleeding edge style firmware) but in my buisness I cant be down until fixes are past so I went with the D17
    Jan 4, 2019 11:41 AM - Geof: a little more stable/less tinkering
Jan 4, 2019 11:41 AM - WheresWaldo: They are using leadscrews on steppers, so the best if they are tr8*2 4-start is 0.02 mm not 0.002 mm
Jan 4, 2019 11:42 AM - Geof: yep they are claiming basically what the software claims to be possible- but not accounting for the mechanical limitations :D
Jan 4, 2019 11:42 AM - Geof: you know the whole "on paper" thing :D
Jan 4, 2019 11:42 AM - Geof: why I'm not a huge fan of those types of claims. They drive me a bit bonkers

    Jan 9, 2019 10:11 AM - kevin wilson: hello
Jan 9, 2019 10:13 AM - kevin wilson: anyone know how to allow the robo 1 to print at 160? It seems it is running hot. and for a short turn solution i want to set my printing temp at 160. But the printer won't let me. Can only do it manually
Jan 9, 2019 10:13 AM - kevin wilson: I mean i can set it at 160, I can manually turn it so the filament feeds
Jan 9, 2019 10:14 AM - kevin wilson: but when I use the LCD controler it doesn't move it through at all, it seems to have a safety on it, so it won't try to print that low
Jan 9, 2019 2:02 PM - mark tomlinson: going to need to tweak the firmware. Marlin is configured form robo to not go below 185 and still extrude. Doesn't mean you can't change it though :)
    Jan 9, 2019 2:02 PM - mark tomlinson: I have one that I use a mintemp of 170 on.

Jan 15, 2019 6:10 AM - Geof: Waldo, had one spam flagged in the moderation que that I couldn't find in the forum. If ya see one thats deleted but still shows up...it was me lol.
    Jan 15, 2019 6:57 AM - mark tomlinson: :)
Jan 15, 2019 7:14 AM - WheresWaldo: I dumped a bunch this morning. Sometimes they end up in the moderation queue but I usually just nuke them from there too.
Jan 15, 2019 7:26 AM - Geof: gotya! Your new printer show up yet?
Jan 15, 2019 9:18 AM - Dan: Hey guys. How ya doing
Jan 15, 2019 9:21 AM - WheresWaldo: fine this morning, after our morning spam clean up it has been quiet
Jan 15, 2019 9:23 AM - WheresWaldo: Anything new you can share from SD, CA?
    Jan 15, 2019 9:26 AM - Geof: howdy
Jan 15, 2019 9:53 AM - Dan: What info are you looking for?
Jan 15, 2019 10:13 AM - WheresWaldo: Anything you might be working on.
Jan 15, 2019 12:18 PM - mark tomlinson: Check out this new Mega 2560 board I am playing with (not for a printer -- yet -- but still):
    Jan 15, 2019 12:18 PM - mark tomlinson: [IMG]
    Jan 15, 2019 12:19 PM - mark tomlinson: 1.5 inches x 2 inches
Jan 15, 2019 12:19 PM - mark tomlinson: and I just uploaded a pile of code from our regular Mega stuff (not Marlin -- yet) and it all worked
    Jan 15, 2019 12:20 PM - mark tomlinson: now I just need a wee RAMPS board ;)

Jan 16, 2019 5:52 AM - Geof: That is one teeny board! I idont know why... or for what...but I feel I need one !
    Jan 16, 2019 5:54 AM - Geof: also....link? lol
    Jan 16, 2019 5:55 AM - Geof: nm! Found it :D https://ru.aliexpress.com/item/Mega...atible-for-Arduino-Mega-2560/32802420999.html
Jan 16, 2019 7:38 AM - mark tomlinson: Yup that is the one.
Jan 16, 2019 7:38 AM - mark tomlinson: It is cuter than a june-bug. Now I need to do "stuff" with it :)
Jan 16, 2019 7:39 AM - mark tomlinson: I could probably use it for the DLP printer since it really doesn't "need" the RAMPS board. It only has one stepper to drive (and no hotend, just a servo for the projector lens cover)
Jan 16, 2019 7:40 AM - mark tomlinson: A stand-alone stepper driver wouldn't be too much to add and the servo can be driven directly from the mega board
Jan 16, 2019 2:41 PM - Geof: Now that would be slick
