I was under the impression that the R2 add led inside to illuminate the print area?
I think the are on both side of the door, Did I dream this?
If not how do I turn them on?

    Thanks

if they are not turning on when you turn on the printer look in the bottom panel, there should be a gray blue wire plugged into fan 2 on the robo board, this should be your LED wire i think (its the same color wires they used in the R1+ and they head into the pillars where the LEDs are) make sure that is plugged in good.

I, too, have the same problem. The lights have never come on. My cable is plugged into fan2, not a "fan3". Here is a photo.
Can anyone direct me to where else to look?
    Thanks,

Well someone with an R2 (@WheresWaldo or @Geof ) will need to confirm, but if it really is supposed to be on the FAN3* connector that might be your issue. I could look on my C2, but there is the possibility it is different.

If it is plugged correctly try unplugging it and plugging it back in (connection might be loose). Otherwise it is a bad string of LEDs or a bad board.

*mine is not handy to look at right now, but I can later. I don't even remember how many FAN connections there were on the board without having a look first

    I don't even see a Fan3 connector.
I'll trace the wires down and see if they are correctly soldered to the leds on both sides.

However, I have a bigger issue with the x-axis making a "grinding" noise (and the machine is only 3 weeks old). I've read the threads on "x-axis noise" and I need to adjust pulleys or something. I can feel it is I turn motors off and move it manual, but it seems to be across the entire x-axis...some I'm suspecting pulley alignment issue. Since it just started happening, the setscrew may have come loose.

I'm unsure and not near my R2 until tomorrow. Will look through my photos and see if I can find one of that location.

Well, swapping Fan1 with Fan2 connectors shows me the leds are wired and working on Fan1 connector. Also no fan is working on the fan2 connector. This means that the Fan2 board connection is not "on". So this must be an option to turn on Fan2 somewhere.

Anyone know what turns these leds on?

It would be a firmware issue, the latest update for Robo's firmware should have the pin defined. I am pretty sure the community 1.1.9 doesn't.

    Problem resolved:

I got an answer back from Jason B. of Robo.

He says "Looks like your LED and cooling fan may have been flipped from the factory. All you should need to do is plug the LED into the "Fan1" port. The LED's should now always be on and the cooling fan "fan2" should now only turn on when the printer starts heating up. "

So, I will swap them permanently, but it now looks like the wiring drawing of the Robo R2 board may be incorrect.

Color me shocked :) They have been not forthwith or forthcoming with releasing any (real) documentation on their board so, yea... I can believe what we have is wrong or out of date

Ditto. Not suprised. I'd ask the robo person your speaking with about it to maybe get the information updated on their end (we have no control over what they publish/release)

Edit- Should state- have no control over anything they do or dont do lol

    Here is his reply:
"Please double check that the fan does come on after given a [motor] command, this is supposed to be controlled by the latest firmware.
But yes, I believe the wiring diagram may be out of date if this is the case. "

I assured him that the fan and LEDs are now working properly.
I'll ask him to see that the drawing is updated.

guessing they changed the boards, there is clearly a fan 3 on my (kickstarter) version.
